That is an excellent idea. I too wish I would have made a copy of the 2000 census. Would anyone have the will of Col. Thomas Turbett. It mentions Polly Graham, and her sister, Priscilla McCulley. McCulley may be spelled McCulloch. Thank You so much......From Barbara Neff My email is: barbandernie@embarqmail.com

Hi Mona, I have several family members there. I'll get back to you through the website this weekend. Thanks so much for doing this work. It's a great gift to the genealogy community. I expect to find many more relatives in the other cemeteries you've been posting. Hi All, This post came through one of my other lists, and it sounds like a good idea to me. I wish I had thought of it in 2000 myself. Mona QUOTED MESSAGE: Date: Thu, 21 Jan 2010 07:05:35 -0600 From: "Virginia L. Aldridge" This is the year our country will do a census of all the people living in your household. This is very important for you to fill out and mail back to our government. So please do not forget to fill out your census form and return it. However, before you return it make a copy of it and place it in your genealogy files. I made a copy of my 2000 census before returning it to the government. Your future generation genealogists will be thrilled to find in your files your 2010 census. Remember this census we will fill out this year will not be available for 72 years to the future generations for research. I only wish I had thought of this before 2000 and that I had a copy of all the census records I sent back. Please encourage all your family members to do the same. Regards, Virginia L. Aldridge

I am looking for the parents of Thomas Johnston (1806-1878) who married Elizabeth Stine (1807-1875). From census data and a bit of family lore, it appears that John and Isabella Johnston lived in or passed through Philadelphia in the time around 1806 and then moved to Wayne Twp before 1810. In the 1810 census John Johnston has a number of small children. In 1820 and thereafter Isabella Johnston shows up as a widow in Wayne Twp. John Johnston died between 1815-1820. Isabella died between 1850 and 1860. I have good reason to believe that her name was Isabella Kithcart and that she was born around 1771. Any information would be appreciated. I just uploaded the records for West Kish Presbyterian Cemetery in Menno Twp. to www.findagrave.com I'm sorry that these records didn't have much information, just names, ages and dates. There was little or no information as to spouses or children. A lot of these date back to the 1700's and early 1800's. As always, if you find any that are yours, please contact me through the edit/correction tab on the memorial and I will gladly transfer them. Mona

The following information was found here on Ancestry.com, and is mostly from census records, plus some military ones. It delineates the families of John & Rebecca and of their son John David. There is a little info about Oliver and Augustus. Their other children are listed here but not traced. This family of Snook's was quite prolific and you probably will be able to identify scads of descendants on the census records. The Snook's listed here in Armagh Township, Mifflin Co., on the 1840 census are most likely relatives of John A. "John" is probably John A, with a mis-stated age. If not John A. himself, then one of them is likely his father. The geographical closeness and the repetition of names among the families of these people make it very likely they are related. On the 1850 census, we see John A. listed with wife Rebecca and 8 children. The child listed as "David" is John David, as clarified on the next census in 1850. It was common for people to be called by their middle names because of naming patterns. It helped to sort out which person you were speaking to or about. So as you come across names in family records or correspondence in your search, keep that in mind. All individuals listed are SNOOK's unless otherwise identified. I have used the spellings that census takers used so that if you search for them on a database, you should be able to find them with these spellin! gs. The census taker for Armagh Township in 1860 had really awful spelling. 1840 census - Mifflin Co.: Armagh Township - there are several Snook's here who could be brothers. Since we find John and immediate family in Armagh in later census records, it is a good indication that this John is likely the same John. No detail on members of household on this census other than gender and age ranges. Probably safe to assume that all the youngsters are sons and daughters and the adult females are wives. Households are: John - age 20-30, 1 male under 5, 1 female under 5, 1 female 30-40. William - age 30-30, 1 female under 5, 1 female 5-10, 1 female 20-30. Philip - age 30-40, 1 male under 5, 2 males 5-10, 2 males 10-15, 1 female under 5, 1 female 30-40. Henry - age 30-40, 1 male under 5, 2 males 5-10, 1 male 10-15, 1 female under 5, 1 female 30-40. 1850 census - Mifflin Co.: Armagh Township - All individuals in these families were born in PA and nearly all the children attended school during prior year: John 27, farmer, realty $500; Rebecca 25, and children Maria 14, Isaac 12, Sarah A. 10, Augustus 8, David (this is John David - see 1860 census) 7, Oliver 5, Richard 3, Amelia 1; all born in PA. Snook, Fannie R., 28, daughter (ie wife of John David), he & parents born PA; read, write & speak English. Snook, Nelson. 3 yr 9 mos., grandson (ie son of John David and Fannie). There is a younger Daniel J. Leeper and family next door, so that would be brother of Fannie. Further up the street is another Leeper family, John Robert, likely another brother of Fannie. 1930 Census: Mifflin Co. Burnham, Furnace Rd: John D. The census records, cross-referenced with other sources you have, will help you identify the spouses and children of the other siblings and descendants. Many of them remained in the same area. Keep interviewing every relative you can find that may have any memory of their ancestors and extended family. It will help you recognize your family members on the census records and other sources.
