I have John Jr,'s 1st wife as Catherine Miller, and 3rd wife as Sarah Sunderland. I also have John Jr.'s parents as John Swigart and Catherine Bellamy. Unfortunately I have all the info but thank you for trying. It means a lot to me. Jane is actually Tamer, and Susannah is Emigh instead of Ensign. It's after his frist wife died that he married this Sarah M. and has another family. And even naming another son John. The John on the 1850 census who is 2 is my great granfather. It is all so confusing what happened to his first family when he went off to remarry.......and start a new family. Perhaps this Susannah Emigh and her husband raise them...in Centre county. That is where the Vaughn's started in PA. Off to the gindstone...............again. Best Wishes, Pam Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 1. [PAMIFFLI] Greenwood Township Records
    2. Bruce Yake
    3. Can any one tell me where I could find tax lists, or any other records, for Greenwood Township for the years 1795 to 1805. Greenwood Township was part of Mifflin County at that time and I assume their records of that date would normally still be held by Mifflin County. However, Mifflintown in Greenwood Township had been the county seat of Mifflin County up to the formation of Juniata County on 2 March 1831. At that time, Mifflintown became the county seat of the new Juniata County and the seat of Mifflin County shifted to Lewistown. So, when the county seat of Mifflin County moved, were all the records moved too, or did those for the local area of.Greenwood Township stay in Mifflintown? . Bruce.

I have the marriage(copy from family bible)of Mitchell Riden (changed his first Christian name to Mitchell...too many Samuels) but his name was Samuel Mitchell Riden, married May Henery, not MARY HENRY as a relative did, in 1861.That's the date, 12 September 1861. They had 8 children, my grandfather, Howard Hudson, being the youngest. You've really given me much more info than I had, especially on the Hoovers. I/we can't find Elizabeth V. I do see where she was a widow, but no mention of whom she was married to. I have the priveledge of being able to go to the store, Milroy, PA, Armagh Twp. to see some items they have when The "Hoover Brothers" sent for a brochure to learn the hardware business. Unless I'm mistaken, his family was in Taylor twp, Centre county for a looooong time. Using the censuses, here is what I've found: 1880 Union, Mifflin (with James Clinger family_ Christian and Sarah M. Vaughn 1870 Jackson, Hungtingdon, Pa census Christian (58) and Sarah (36) with children Mary (16) and Hannah (10) 1860 Taylor, Centre census Christian, 48 Sarah, 24 Mary, 5 Elizabeth, 4 Hannah, 2 John, a Note: 2 doors away are John Vaughn (66) and wife Catherine(67), presumably Christian's parents. 1850 Taylor, Centre census (transcribed as Chrishan Vaughin !) Christian, Vaughn, 34, colier(sic) Susan, 11 (named after mother-in-law??) Catherine, 10 (named after mother?) Jane??, 8 (named after wife?) Sarah, 5 (or was this his wife's name?) John, 2 (named after his father?) William, 19 (brother?) Susanna Ensign? (think that's what it says), 67 (given the name of Christian's eldest child is Susan, I am guessing this woman might have been his mother-in-law) Note: 2 doors away are John Vaughn (62) and Catherine (56) - again, I suspect that these are Christian's parents given the names of his children by his first wife (who obviously died 1848-1850, probably in child-birth or shortly thereafter, while having son John). They say they have been married 7 years (1893?) and that they have had no children ( 0-0 ). They are there again in 1910 and by 1920 Lewis states he is a widower and is living with his widow mother. So Elizabeth Virginia died sometime between 1910 and 1920, childless and probably in Armagh twp in Mifflin county (maybe buried in Milroy). __________ Adeline Hoover in 1900 was also in Armagh, a widow, born Jan 1836 in Pa of Pa-born parents. She says she has had 5 children, all of whom survive (Lewis, Cordelia, Effie, Freeman, and Maria). In the 1880 census, Adeline is a widow in Barree, Huntingdon, a milliner and with children Delia (Cordelia) and Louisa (Louisa Maria). Children Lewis, Effie and Freeman are with their grandparents, Freeman and Sophia Shipton (presumably Adeline's parents) in Milroy, Armagh, Mifflin. In the 1870 Pike, Clearfield census are: Hoover, James L., 44, millwright Adaline Lewis, 9 Cordelia, 7 Effy, 4 Freeman, 2 Maria, 1 (her name is either Maria or Louisa, or both) 1860 Pike, Clearfield census is: Peter Hoover, 61 Mary, wife J. Linn, 34 (James Linn, James L. in 1870) Matilda Lewis theresa Allen' Zenas __________________________________ Elizabeth Virginia Riden, there is: 1880 Union, Mifflin Samuel M. Riden Mary, wife Adam Elizabeth Z. (this "Z" must be a transcriber's mistake) 1870 Union, Mifflin (transcribed as "Ridom") Samuel, 30 Mary, 31 Adam, 8 Lucemma, 7 Virginia (she was called Elizabeth in the 1880) John Esther. In the 1860 census, Samuel M. Riden is single and enumerated in Armagh. I "think" that is him in the 1850 Derry, Mifflin census with parents William and Hester Riden. ___________ Hope this helps out, Sue Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I have been searching for Elizabeth Virginia (Riden) Hoover for some time. I know she was married to Lewis Hoover, ownre of the hardware store, Milroy, Pa, have her listed as living with Lewis, his mother Adeline, and of course Elizabeth. She is listed in the 1910 census but is gone in the 1920 census. Word has it she may have been in a fire (her hair), could have possibly died, then may alos have moved to ND with brothers, John Riden and/or William Riden. I can't find anything more on her. I can't find Lewis Hoover past the 1920 census. There is a Lewis Hoover MD, Lewistown, but have no connection to this Lewis. He could have been the grandfather of Lewis, Elizabeth (Riden) Hoover's husband. He was born between 1812 and 1815 and was much older than Sarah. 24 years to be exact. That's why I think he was married to twice and had two seperate families.
