I really appreciate your help and your suggestions. The problem is that Isaac Hamlin died in Ohio in 1886 and his wife Nancy Burris in 1888. We have searched for obits, but there seem to be none and no death certificates for either. Our ultimate goal is to find the names of their parents - a daunting task! We do have a lot of information on both of them and their children etc. including Isaac's will and the papers Nancy filed for a mothers pension from her son who had served in the Civil War (LOTS of info there) but no mention of the ones we feel must have been dropped here from that infamous space ship.:) Thanks again for your time. Sincerely, Mary Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. What you need to find is their obituaries in the old newspapers where they died - usually they're a wealth of clues. I am SO desperate that I will jump at any chance to find my family members - no matter how slim the chance might be.:) The family name is HAMLIN, first names Isaac b. 1810 (wife Nancy Burris) children, Henry, Harrietta, Sarah Jane, Simon, Margaret, Mary Anne, and Jonathan. They appear to have been in Mifflin Co. until they moved to Lawrence Co. PA where I found them under the name Hamilton (probably census taker error) in the 1850 census. In 1857 they moved to Clfd. Co. PA and later to OH. I don't know if your book goes back that far, but I would be extremely appreciative of any info. you could find! My goal is to find who Isaac and maybe even Nancy's parents were. My e-mail address is hkapaun@comcast.net Thank you so very very much! Born in Waqlker twp, Huntingdon county 17 Jan 1825, a son of Alexander Westbrook and Nancy White, both natives of Huntingdon county and of English descent. Alexander died in 1854 and his wife of 6 Dec 1842. They had 9 children, the only ones still living by 1897 were Thomas and one sister, Martha, widow of Saxton Barry, who now (1897) resides in Colorado. Thomas married 11 Feb 1847, Mary E., daughter of Henry and Mary Hefreight, natives of Germany, but for many years residents of Huntingdon county. Of the 9 children born to Thomas and Mary Hefreight Westbrook, only 5 were alive by 1897: JOhn H. and George B. of Huntingdon; James R. of Pottsville,Pa; Mary E.(Mrs. John Conrad) of Fort Wayne, Indiana; and Margaret(Mrs. Robert Sampson) of Colorado. _______________________ page 310 - bio of Abraham V. Westbrook, born 15 Feb 1824 in Huntingdon, Huntingdon county, a son of Levi and Mary (Thompson) Westbrook, also natives of Huntingdon county. Levi and Mary's children were: John; Martha; Elizabeth; Levi; George A.; Abraham V; and James A. His wife dying in 1823, Levi Westbrook was agian married, to Rebecca Parkson, by whom he had 4 daughters: Mary Catherine; Margaret A; Louisa; and Rebecca. Abraham V. Westbrook was married to Mary Ann, daughter of James and Annie (Goodman) Simpson, born in 1831. Their only child is Vance W., who married Julia Wick, Philadelphia, where they reside. NOTE: something needs checking here as the author says that Abraham was born in 1824 and Abraham's mother died in 1823 - so either one of those dates is wrong, or Abraham's mother was the 2nd wife. I have an obituary from the Monitor, Huntingdon,Pa. Feb.9, 1895 it's lengthly, but states he was born in Huntindon 55 years ago that would make it circa 1840 and states also, In 1857 Mr. Hefright was united in marriage with Miss Mary Westbrook, and to them four children were born as follows: John H., Minnie B., Mrs. Howard Kirk and Katie. the wife and all the children survive. Deceased is survived by 3 sisters and one brother: Mrs. Elizabeth Westbrook, Mrs. Mary Westbrook, Mrs. Augustus Letterman and Lewis Hefright all of Huntindon.
