I'm a descendent of Plunket Armstrong and have quite a bit of information about the family in Mifflin. However, I was surprised to see that you list Plunket as a grandson of Capt. William Armstrong and his wife Rebecca. I'd greatly appreciate any information you have documenting that relationship. Everything else I've seen (including Capt. Armstrong's will and Bell's various books) indicates that William Armstrong (Plunket's father) was NOT a son of Capt Armstrong. I have long thought that land records would probably clear up the relationship, but have not had time to check them. Re. McCord--I have assumed that Rebecca's last name was McCord. Have you ruled that out for some reason? The Armstrong family of Mifflin and Cumberland was connected to the Col. William Armstrong family of Delaware, and I believe McCord was from there. As I said, I have pretty extensive records on various Armstrongs in PA and nearby, which I'd be happy to share. Please let me know what! you have. Re Wallace--my family has been told that the Armstrongs were related to Lew Wallace, who achieved some fame following the Civil War. There were Wallaces in PA, but I have been unable to establish a connection.
I have changed my email address to [email protected], it was [email protected] when I was working on family tree stuff. debbie martin

I have not stated anything in reguards to children of William and Rebecca Armstrong. I was wondering if my Sarah Armstrong could have been a neice to this family since they were in Mifflin County but this Sarah is one of my dead ends and I have not solved it. You may well be correct that this is not my Sarah's family. I was just checking. In case someone knew something. Thank you for your reply. Mary

I was a little surprised to see that you mentioned children of William Armstrong and Rebecca and stated that Plunket was his grandson. I would appreciate more information about how you determined that Plunket was his grandson. Everything I have read previously indicated that William and Rebecca had no children. Re Rebecca's maiden name--have you ruled out McCord? Re Sarah Armstrong--I do not think she was related to this family of Armstrongs. All of these Armstrongs came from Enniskellen (sp?), Fermanagh, Ireland. Plunket, by the way, married Margaret Lyon. His brother, William Armstrong (the third?), married Rebecca Armstrong from Delaware, a niece of General John Armstrong.

Not much on John and Margaret Kauffman, except they were in Milford twp in Juniata county from 1860 onwards. I did run across an interesting bit about Milton Kauffman. Apparently his first wife was Anna Williams and they had a son Frederick. His 2nd wife was Matilda Elizabeth Hartley. If you go to Google and type in the search box exactly as shown: "Milton Kauffman" Juniata You should get just one hit - click on "cached" and find Milton Kauffman.

I haven't a clue about Joseph's parents but wonder about Alexander Davidson. I also wonder if the Davidsons moved UP to Centre Co. from Cumberland Co. When did they arrive in the U.S. and from where?
