    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/AcB.2ACE/1549.1 Message Board Post: I found the following individuals in the 1830 Census for Fermanagh, Mifflin Co, Pa: John Wright, age 50 to 59; George Wright, age 40 to 49; James Wright, age 30 to 39; Robert Wright, age 30 to 39; Roswell D. Wright, age 20 to 29. There was only one "Roberts" listed in 1830 for Fermanagh, Mifflin Co : Lewis D. Roberts. He might have been the husband of either Margaret or Elizabeth. There were 6 Horning males, who might have been Jane Wright's husband: Jacob, John and Joseph, all age 30 to 39, and each lived within a few doors of James Wright. Samuel Horning, age 30 to 39, lived next door to George Wright. There was also a William Horning, age 20 to 29; and a Lewis Horning, age 60 to 69. There was one other Horning: Isabella Horning, age 20 to 29. I do not see any of the above Wrights, Hornings or Roberts living in Mifflin County in 1840. Mary O'Donnell Mulcahy

    3. Hello Fellow Listers: Just letting you know that I have just finished scanning and sending some old unidentified pictures to a really good website for posting unidentified pictures.... www.orphanphotos.info Those pictures [at present] that have my e-mail address [[email protected]] as a contact, were found in a house at 56 West Big Spring Avenue, Newville, Cumberland Co., PA.. Many were taken by Perry County photographers, but a few were taken by photographers from Dauphin, Juniata and Mifflin Counties and even some from other states. These original photographs will now be housed in the Unidentified Photo collection at The Perry Historians. Please do take a look at all of the photos posted on this site, they certainly need an "identity". Thanks in advance! 3. Donna, What publication was this obit. in? The Lewistown Sentinel? The Huntingdon Daily News? Or which? I am a direct descendant of Aunt Kate's sister Priscilla and in touch via email with descendants of "Aunt Mary" and another sister. Are you related? If so, how? I have been researching the Hershberger/Harshbarger families (there are three distinctly different families that are descendents of one of the three Christian Hershberger's) in hopes that some day I may publish a study, and even find a connection between the two that settled in central Penna. 1. RootsWeb Mailing Lists
    2. Judy Banja
    3. Hi Mona and anybody else having problems getting their RW list mail, I was hoping the RW server issues would be resolved and we wouldn't have any further problems. I'm receiving your mail, so your mail is getting through. Because I'm getting it, it's quite likely your Internet Service Provider (ISP) has blocked RW mail messages as spam. That is something you would need to take up with your ISP. RW list admins do check and work with ISPs, too, but a request from your end to your ISP will often help solve the problem faster. 1. When something like this happens, the first place to check is the RootsWeb help desk : http://helpdesk.rootsweb.com/ Today's help desk message includes a list of ISPs who are deferring RW list mail. There's also a note at the help desk about the next step . . . . . 2. Check password central if you're not getting your mail. http://passwordcentral.rootsweb.com/ If your mail bounces over and over, you're usually automatically unsubbed from that mailing list. I'm pretty sure all listadministrators have the bounce number set pretty high right now, but we've had quite a few messages on the list from the message board, and they add up. 3. When the help desk doesn't have a note about the problem, your password central profile indicates you're still subbed, AND you're still not getting your mail, and you DO see currently archived mail messages (for this list) at http://lists.rootsweb.com/index/usa/PA/mifflin.html (The PA county lists are listed here http://lists.rootsweb.com/index/usa/PA/ in case you have others to check.) 4. Send a note to the list administrator [email protected] I probably won't be able to do anything else but commiserate, but I'm here. <g> Judy Banja

I had heard that efforts to grow mulberry trees to feed silkworms had been attempted, but I had the impression that nothing much came of that effort. My dad's line of work while still a teenager was in silkmills in Northumberland Co. Pa. As he often described it, silk weaving was low paying, long hours, and quite tiring. In the late '20s he left silk weaving and went into exterior painting, and then into interior painting and decorating to get through the depression. Best wishes, Nels

    3. Thanks to all who replied. Isaac M. Fronk was in Cambria County in 1920 census, listed as a house carpenter. At some point I think he moved back to western PA, was buried near Cherry Tree, Indiana County. Not sure how long he worked in or what he did in the silk mill. Also Trying to find links farther back in the Fronk Family. The ones that left Perry in 1850 to head to Cambria may have ties to the Fronks who stayed in the Mifflin-Juniata area. Marcia Fronk

Surnames: Fronk, Gifford, Moyer, Fouts Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/AcB.2ACE/1556.1.1 Message Board Post: Hello Nelson, Living in Milroy and working in Lewistown sounds likely. What is interesting to me is that I think Isaac Fronk lived in Clearfield County and may have moved to Milroy for employment and then returned home. He was age 52, listed as a laborer on the 1930 census. From what I read, the silk mill in Lewistown was manufacturing goods for the military at some point. As a side note and maybe more than you want to know, they did make several efforts to produce silk in Pennsylvania. There was a bit of a craze in the 1820's, nurserymen were buying and selling for profit a new variety of Mulberry tree that was needed to be grown to feed the silk worms. I came across several notices in the early Dauphin County newspapers for the sale of the Mulberry trees. One difficulty in production was finding cheap enough labor that was needed to unravel the silk from the cocoons, very time consuming work. Marcia Fronk

John Henderson Wharton caught my eye. Do you have any information on the Henderson Line. After James Henderson died in 1795, Sarah Park Henderson, his wife and the children left Mifflin Co., and went to Venango Co.,PA about 1805. I have a great deal of information about Sarah and all of the children to the present time. Thank you. Diana Cronhardt at <[email protected]>

In my opinion, you would be wasting your time looking for a Heidelberg Twp. in Northumberland Co. I think your source of information is corrupted if it places Heidelberg Twp. in Mifflin Co. Why don't you try looking in the other four counties that DO have a Heidelberg Twp. Happy hunting!
