Hi Bea, There are church cemeteries private cemeteries (farm cemeteries would come under this heading, I suppose) county cemeteries nonprofit cemetery associations cemeteries run as a business (can be private or corporate) . . . did I miss any, folks? Knowing what kind of cemetery you're looking at would be a good first step in figuring out who has the records. I'm not sure what each state's laws are or were governing interments - some states probably still have no permit requirements, or even require interment licenses or interment in a licensed cemetery. The Q & A page for the Pennsylvania Cemetery Funeral Association website is at http://pcfaonline.com/commonquestionsC.shtml and may answer some of your questions. Mifflin county cemeteries are listed here: http://www.rootsweb.com/~pamiffli/cemeteries.html The list was compiled by the previous Mifflin county USGenWeb county coordinators, and with permission of the Mifflin County Historical Society, the pages of their book, Mifflin County Cemeteries, have been linked on this page. The index itself is at http://www.rootsweb.com/~pamiffli/mchs-cems.html Also check the cemetery transcription page here: http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/pa/mifflin/cemet.htm My hope is that lots of folks who live in Mifflin county got digital cameras for Christmas and will be willing to go out and photograph tombstones when spring comes, so we can have a Mifflin Archives tombstone photo project like Blair Archives'. Ed Bratton has already contributed a number of cemetery photos, as have several other folks in the past. (I live over 700 miles away from Mifflin county, so I doubt I'll be able to participate in a Mifflin county tombstone photography project.) Two wonderful online cemetery projects online are http://interment.net/ and http://findagrave.com/ If you do not see what you need any of these places, check the MCHS folks to see if they can advise you. http://www.rootsweb.com/~pamchs/home.htm Anybody who can add to this information, please do! Margaret M. Yetter was born March 27, 1901 to William E Yeater (note spelling of last name) and Rose M. Dalby. She was one of five children. In 1916 at the age of 15 she had a son, at the age of 17 she had another son. She then married a THACHER had four children, not sure if they divorced or he died. After July 1929 she married a Joseph L. Young. Son of Joseph Irvin Young and Anna Margaret Vaughn. There is also a family rumor of another son with the last name of BUCHANAN. I have a Margaret M. Yetter in my Yetter file, but she was born in 1835 and died about 1910. It sounds like a generation too early and my data dead ends with her: Descendants of Jacob Jackson Yeatter Generation No. 1 1. JACOB JACKSON4 YEATTER (JACOB3, LUDWICK2, JOHANNES1) was born April 11, 1797 in Decatur Twp., Mifflin Co., Pa, and died April 01, 1870. He married MARY ANN KNEPP, daughter of JACOB KNEPP. She was born January 31, 1811, and died May 18, 1886. Notes for JACOB JACKSON YEATTER: The "THE YETTER CONNECTION" A GENEALOGY HISTORY of JACOB YETTER and his wives REBECCA KREBS & MARY EBERHARD Compiled by F. Kenneth McCurdy is accepted as accurate over the below reference. It more closely agrees with other documentation e.g. the 1850 census Eliven children are referred to without name in the Huntington, Mifflin, Juniata and Perry Counties, page 719, subject "EDWARD YETTER" reference. ASSUMPTION: 1850 Census, Mifflin Co., pg. 309, microfilm real 797 lists D avid Yetter and household as entry 64. The next entry lists Jacob and household. Jacob's wife's name is Mary and we know from the above reference (Edward Yetter ref.) that David's dad, Ludwigs brother Jacob married Mary Kreps. (the McCurdy file referenced abobe, lists Mary Ann Knepp as Jacob's spouse and her birth date more closely aligns with the 1850 census age of 39) More About JACOB JACKSON YEATTER: Burial: Polk Cemetery, Cross Keys, Pa. Notes for MARY ANN KNEPP: McCurdy lists Mary Ann Knepp's birthdate as 21Jan1811 and in another shett gives here maiden name as Krep(p)s. On the latter Family Group Sheet he gives Lazarus S. Who did your grandmother marry, presumably a Mr. Young, but what was his first name? Also roughly what year did she die and at about what age? If we can locate her in a census (only up to 1930), then maybe we can follow her back to her parents.

Also found that Charles Cogley Spottswood married Nancy Jane Lilley, a daughter of William R. Lilley. William R. Lilley was a brother of the Reverend Samuel P. Lilley. Sam. P. Lilley was born about 1794 in Pa and was married to Anna B. (also called Nancy) (born about 1810 in Pa). They are in the 1850 Decatur, Mifflin census with children Charles (8), Ada B.(6), and Emma (1). They then moved to Illinois and are in the 1860 Lima, Carroll, Illinois census and in the 1870 Mr. Carroll, Carroll, Illinois census.
from page 658 of the History of the Juniata and Susquehanna Valleys (1886),: Lillyville-About 1836, S.P. Lilly, a local preacher of the Methodist Church, bought the Isaiah Mathews farm and built thereon a grist and saw-mill and erected a store; the latter was conducted by his son WALTER. The business was conducted by them for may years. The place was of sow growth, and when it arrived to the dignity of a name was called in honor of Mr. Lilley. At present (1886) it contains a mill, two stores, a Methodist Church, a schoolhouse and a number of dwellings.... Samuel P. Lilly was a commissioner's clerk in 1838 and was commissioned an associate judge December 29, 1841. Hope this helps, Sue
