Hello listmembers, I've received a few inquiries regarding my transcription of the 1870 census. Yes, I am alive and well and the transcription is continuing. I'm currently working on Hickory township, which, much to my surprise, contains over 8000 names - nearly 4 times the size of any of the previous townships. (Delaware township, the largest to date, has over 2000 residents). I've complete just over half of the township - many, many coal miners from Scotland, Ireland, England and Germany. At the rate of 3 or 4 pages a day, it will be another month or so until Hickory is completed. I'll send it out as soon as it's finished.
