Dear Dee, The best day to go to Mercer is on a Tuesday. The Mercer County Genealogical Society is at the Shenango Valley Community Library in Sharon every Tuesday. Library opens at 10a.m. There are some useful tools there, such as a multi-volume cemetery inscription set, census records, etc. The county court house is in Mercer, a short drive from Sharon; it is open M-F. The Mercer County Historical Society is across the street from the court house. It too is open M-F. They are very helpful and knowledgable. I was surprised at what I found there. If you decide to begin in Mercer instead of Sharon, go to the Society first. It could save you some time. The court house has lots of info on mariages, deaths, births, taxes, etc. Problem is that there isn't much for the earlier part of last century and you had a population that didn't always register births, marriages and the like. Happy hunting. . . Jeffrey Alan Franks Great Great Great Great Grandson of Samuel and Nancy KOONCE of Clarksville DEE353 wrote: > Want to come down to Mercer Pa to do some "hands-on" research.
