GenWeb page which is at the following URL: http://www.rootsweb.com/~pamercer/ Mercer County Historical Society Library Resources The Mercer County Historical Society's Research Library is located in the Anderson House Building, 119 South Pitt Street, Mercer, PA, 16137. It is open to the public Tuesday through Friday, 10 AM to 4:30 PM and Saturday 10 AM to 3 PM. It is closed Sundays, Mondays and holidays. The Research Library's resources include numerous collections, guides, abstractions and records gathered together for those interested in Mercer County history. Many resources have genealogical applications and other collections relate to the Civil War, Dr. John Goodsell's North Pole experiences and other areas related to local history research. Listed below is a sampling of some of the materials in the library: •Federal Census microfilms for Mercer and many surrounding counties •Compiled Family Histories and correspondent's research files •Published histories of Mercer and surrounding counties •Regimental histories for several Pennsylvania units as well as other secondary and primary Civil War materials •City and county directories •Extensive collection of Mercer County newspapers, 1811-1976 (many gaps in pre-1900 print runs) •Mercer County wall map and 1873 Mercer County Atlas as well as more modern plat books, aerial photos and Sanborn Insurance Maps •Municipal and County records (Mechanics Leins, Commissioners' Minutes, etc.) •Manuscript and iconographic collections of original documents, records and photos. To access materials from the Research Library, simply visit the Mercer County Historical Society during regular business hours or send letters of inquiry to the following address: Mercer County Historical Society 119 South Pitt Street Mercer, PA 16137 There is no fee for on-site research. Paid photocopy services are available. Mailed Inquires: Mail inquiries are $10.00 per surname, per inquiry. No E-mail requests for research will be accepted. Please indicate what information you seek and provide adequate background information for our staff. Research inquiries are served on a first-come-first-served basis.
