My great-grandfather, Cyrus Montgomery, had a brother named Renwick. There are also two other Renwicks in that branch of the Montgomery family. I know they were in the US from the 1600s on, so they wouldn't be the same immediate family as your James, since he was born in Ireland. I wonder why the name Renwick was used so much? Maybe they came to Mercer because they were related to 'my' Montgomerys? Does anyone know if Renwick was a common name for some reason?
