Hello Mercer. I am seeking information about the Steen family who lived in Wilmington Twp. John Steen was born in 1829 the son of John Steen of Ireland. John II died Sept. 8, 1908. He was a shoemaker by trade. John was first married to Amy McCandless and then possibly married a second time. He had 2 sons who were living at the time of his death, William Erastus Steen (Belle Vernon, Fay. Co. Pa.-ancestral grandfather) and John Steen III from New Wilmington, Mercer Co. His three daughters were: Jennie, Annie, and Lydia. Also living at that time were two sisters: Mrs. Orwig of Pittsburgh and Mrs. Bolton on Sharon. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church at New Wilmington. Is anyone familiar with this family? Thanks for your help. Cramer, John 6 James Lewis 18 in the 1860 census Sarah Steen 1 yr. William McCandless 15 yrs. brother-in-law Amy Steen 30 yrs. They resided in: Shenango Twp.; Wolfcreek Twp; West Middlesex Boro, and New Wilmington William Erastus Steen married Hannah Mary Patterson daughter of Mary Titzler and Samuel Patterson, also from Mercer.
