There were some MOONs who were in Hastings County Ontario in the mid 1800s who then disappeared and who are rumoured to be connected to my Haggerty/Haggertie family. I recently found the following in the 1861 Hastings County census (Ontario was then called Canada West or CW): John Moon, born CW, Wesleyan Methodist, age 22 Robert Moon, CW, laborer, Episcopal, age 39 Sarah Moon, Ireland, Episc, 36 years William Moon, CW, 15 yrs James Moon, CW, 12 Alexander Moon, CW, 10 John Moon, CW, 6 Mary Moon, CW, 2 I wonder if this family might be related to yours? Sarah Moon may have been a daughter of Amelia Haggertie and George Webb. Amelia's brother George Haggertie and his wife Mary Shannon emigrated from Canada West to Mercer County PA.
