I've got roots in Mercer Co. As a Child the word vacation meant going to Mercer to Visit my Aunt Celia Beckman Klingensmith. I still have cousins and one uncle that live in and around Mercer/Fredonia. My Maskrey Clan (William, Hannah and four children) came to Mercer co. in 1830 est from Derbyshire England. And had a Homestead in or around Fredonia. I would love to know exactly where that was (The homestead) I know Fredonia My cousin's wife Cleo Beckman is the postmaster for Fredonia. Wm. and Hannah's grandson (through their son Bartholomew) George Walter Maskrey lived near Sandy Lake. His first wife died 1879 (Elizabeth [Lizzie] McDowell) leaving him to raise 4 small children. Lizzie is buried in or around Sandy Lake. Our family rumor states that he got him self a mail order bride Sara Ellen Pringle with whom he had 5 or 6 more children the last being born in 1900. In November of 1900 GW was still in Sandy Lake. Well Sara died in 1903 one of their youngest children Harry died in 1902. After Sara's death GW moved his family to Mahoning Co. OH where a couple of his older girls married (My grandmother Icia married Ray Porter Beckman). I have no idea how long he stayed there but I don't believe it was long. GW took the rest of the Children to Minnesota. Pine Co. Willow River. Now I am trying to locate where Sara Ellen Pringle Maskrey is buried. Did she die in Mercer Co? Mahoning Co. or Pine Co. MN. I believe it is Mercer Co. But I am trying to locate where she is buried or her obituary. As far as where she is buried I believe that if we could locate the grave of his first wife in Sandy Lake or their child Harry Maskrey she should be near by. Sarah died in 6 Aug of 1903. Can any one help me? My Beckman Line is actually part of the above line Icia Maskrey met and married Ray Porter Beckman in Mahoning county but they moved back to Mercer Co. 1925 est.
