I am looking for information on the family of John Thomas YOUNG. John Thomas married Nancy Jane ALLISON about 1827. They had nine known children: Allison, James, Jerusha, Thomas Jefferson, Charles Morgan, John Scott, Charity, Julius and Winston Gaius. In the spring of 1854 the family moved to Jo Daviess County, Illinois. John Thomas is believed to be the son of Matthew YOUNG and Elizabeth BAIL (Baile). They probably moved to Mercer County from Washington and Allegheny counties. The 1850 census of Mercer County shows a James YOUNG. This might be a brother of John Thomas and another son of Matthew. Matthew and Elizabeth both died in Mercer county, Matthew about 1844. Any help on this line would be greatly appreciated. janet young berkson
