Hi all! I'm new to the list, and have been observing the correspondence before posting. It was nice to notice a few familiar names out there. All of the lines I am researching resided, and most currently reside, in Mercer County. Names: Paternal-- McCANN- 1830s and on; MASSON- 1830s and on; McDONALD- 1700s and on; BARBILLION- 1830s and on; MARTIN- 1830s and on; and JENNINGS- early 1800s; SCHIESTLE- 1850s and on; and MARIARCHER- 1850s and on. Maternal-- SAYLOR- 1840s and on; HENRY (German)- 1840s and on; ZUSHLAG- 1840s and on; DIEHL- 1840s and on; RYAN (German)- 1840s and on; BECKSTEIN- 1830s and on; and MUELLER (MILLER)- 1830s and on. Someone who posted recently was asking about emigration patterns. My McCann line came from County Meath, Ireland- to Canada- to Buffalo, NY- and then to Mercer. If you haven't checked out the US GENWEB project yet, please do so! The Mercer County site of the PA GENWEB section has the entire 1850 census for Mercer online. Finally, I would also like to give kudos to the Mercer County Genealogical Society. Through the years they have written one of the best genealogical newsletters I have seen. Also, their volunteers are very friendly and helpful,. both through the mail and in person. Noreen McCann Manassas, Va.
