    1. [PAMERCER-L] Francis or Ella GIBBENS
    2. I've been unable to discover Francis Gibbens (birth and death unknown) except for records in the Mercer County Courthouse, dated Nov. 27, 1897, showing that Francis & Ella (Wolfe) Gibbens sold a parcel of land to a J.J. Boulter for the sum of $1.00. In the 1900 Pa. census Ella, born June 30, 1861, is divorced from Francis and working as a servant at 1083 West, Meadville, Pa. Francis and Ella had ten children. In Ella's 1943 obituary a son John Gibbens is listed as living in Meadville; sons Harry (born April 30, 1880) and Claude (born March 16, 1896) are listed as living in Greenville, Pa. Francis seems to have vanished from the Pa. census by 1900 with the youngest sons (who reappear in the 1920 census). All I know for certain about Francis is that he did, indeed, exist--he's my mystery man. Does anyone have information on siblings or parents of Francis Gibbens? I'm told that he was a red-headed Irishman. Thanks, Elizabeth
