Hi Cousins; I am still looking at the circus books and there is an incredible amount of info on Dan Rice and his circus. I am having trouble organizing it so think I'll just post parts of 1 source at a time and not worry about trying to condense all of it into one posting. Meanwhile I found this and thought it intersting as it was something that circus people believed to be gospel and Dan Rice (as other did as well) fined the performer/worker if violated: Circus Superstitions �Never look back during a parade. �Never sit on the ringcurb facing out. �Never whistle in the dressing room. �Peacock feathers are bad luck. �Accidents happen in threes. �Elephants must always have their trunks up in pictures. �Hair from the tail of an elephant is good luck. (Often made into rings or bracelets....now I know why grandmother had a ring of this type!) More later; Patti
