Hi, I am trying to help a friend start her family history research and thought I would let you good people know the surnames we are searching for. Her grandfather, Merle SLOAN was born 19 Jan 1902 and died Oct 1974 in the Sharon area of Mercer Co., PA. He was born as a TATE (TAIT) and was adopted by a SLOAN family at about age 7. He had 2 brothers that we know about, Sam & Carl SLOAN. He married Thelma PORTERFIELD who was born 1907 and died 1954. Thelma had 14 siblings 2 of whom were John & Bill PORTERFIELD.
