    1. [PAMERCER-L] Civil War
    2. Hi all, I'm a new subscriber here and am hoping someone can point me in the right direction. I'm trying to track down an ancestor, Daniel KNOTT (1837-1900, approx.), who may have served in the Civil War in Mercer County, in the 39th Regiment, Company G. The NJ 1890 census lists him as serving in Pottsville, PA's 48th Regiment, Company G, but I couldn't find him in any of the 48th's rosters. I did, however, find a Daniel Knott in Mercer County's 39th Regiment, Company G, doing a 3-month service during the same timeframe, July-Sept, 1863. Can anyone point me to information about that regiment, or others, that were in Mercer County at the time? I'd like to find out why he's listed in 2 different regiments. Perhaps he started in the Pottsville 48th and then moved west, enlisting with a different one in Mercer? Thanks for any info you can provide on Mercer and the Civil War.
