Hi all - I received the message below asking about the MAGARGEE family history and whether Jackson Center was once named "Shandaggan" and whether Jackson Twp. was once called "Pine Swamp." The last time I was home we were talking of an old circ 1940s - 1950s of a tavern in Jackson Center called the Shandaggan. In speaking I told that Jackson Center was onced named Shandaggan. True? Jackson Township was once called Pine Swamp? Also that the meaning of Shandaggan, an Irish work I do believe, was the "edge of hell". Do you know where I may find any information on this? Also surfing through my Mercer county genealogy I find there are no reference to my family. MAGARGEE. Any information here?
