Was this John Daniel SPANGLER descended from Johann Balthasar SPANGLER and Magdalena RITTER who apparently came to York Co., Pa in the mid 1830's? If so, we are very distant cousins. My SPANGLERs ended up in Armstrong Co., Pa. Jim Wise

    3. Hi cousin Jim, Yep - one and the same. I think there were so many Spanglers after several generations that they had to move west (and north) to find land and make a living. My Spangler line from the immigrant is: 1) Johann Baltzer Spangler (1706-1765) m. 1732 Magdalena Ritter. 2) Rudolf Spangler (1738-1811) m. 1767 Dorothea Dinkel (1748-1835) 3) John Daniel Spangler (1781-1851) m. 1815 Elizabeth King (1796-1863). There is a Spangler web site that is pretty good, at http://www.spanglers.info/ Unfortunately, it looks like Fillmore Spangler Jr passed away in 2004, but his son has improved the web site tremendously.
