There is a Shannon connection in my family. Mary Ann Shannon married George Haggertie in county Cork in 1819. Their 4 eldest children were baptised in Kilmeen parish, roughly half way between Dunmanway and Clonakilty, county Cork. In 1827 they came to Mercer County PA, and they are buried in the Boyd cemetery there. Three of George's brothers settled in Canada, a bit north of what is today Belleville, Ontario, near Lake Ontario. He also had 3 sisters who settled near him in Mercer County. I have wondered if the Shannons in Mercer might be related to Mary Ann as many of these early immigrants definitely settled in family groups.
