Shirley, somewhere I have pictures of the Deeter School. My father attended there in the mid '30s, having grown up on Mercer Avenue, and my great-grandmother lived around the corner on School Street. The school still stood when I was a very small child. I'll try to dig up the pictures. I do not know the original name of this school but at some date the school was renamed Deeter Elementary in honor of Emma Deeter who perhaps taught or was principal of the school. I would be very interested in pictures of the school and class pictures from 1918 - 1925 approximately the years that my mother Ruth (Bilkey) Johnston . My mother lived next door to the school at then 62 Mercer Avenue. She told me of the winter mornings that her brother Charles would go early to start the stoves that kept the school warm.
