In search of: The Williams family shown in the Mercer county 1870 census: N.L. Williams age 31 Lucretia (Leslie) Williams, age 30, Bertha age 6, Harry age 1, Kate (Leslie)Stevenson age 20  (lucretia's sister) William Stevenson age 1. ( kate's son) > > The Williams family and the Leslie family were in the hardware business together.  I've been unable to find N.L Williams and family after the 1870 census, with the exception of the nephew William Stephenson, who is listed as an orphan at Mercer Soldiers Orphan School along with his brother Percival.  Lucretia's and Kate's brother, William O. Leslie, continued the hardware business as his own. > > Would appreciate any info on where the Williams family or Kate Stephenson (stevenson) went after 1870.  I have searched without luck for Lucretia in Ohio, as both familes were originally from Ohio.  I also did some research in the Washington Territory area.......the orphan William reportedly  headed west when released from the orphanage in 1885.  His brother Percival stayed in the PA/OH area most of his life. > > Any help would be appreciated! > > Leslie M.
