William Stewart b. 1738 in County Donegal, Ireland & his wife, Mary Gass, who came to Mercer from Washington County. They were from Cumberland County prior to Washington. William's mother was Rebecca Galbraith, Mary's was Eleanor Galbraith, both daughters of James Galbraith & Rebecca Chambers who came to Donegal Twp, Lancaster County in 1718. William & Mary's son Robert Stewart b. 1781 who married Mary Young and lived in Mercer. Young - John Young b. 1746 and his wife Elizabeth Elder (daughter of David Elder & Margery Stewart of Fannett Twp. Franklin County). Their daughter, Mary Young above. Fleming - Susan Fleming b. 1818 married John Young Stewart b. 1815 (son of Robert Stewart & Mary Young above). I think Susan's parents were Samuel Fleming and Jane McClintock. Beggs - Nancy Anne Beggs b. 1839 in Mercer. She married Samuel Stewart b. 1839 (son of John Young Stewart & Susan Fleming). Nancy's parents were David Beggs & Rachel White of Mercer. Samuel Stewart was in Co. A 139th PA (Civil War) which was mainly men from Mercer. White - Rachel White, above, b. 1800, the daughter of John White and Margaret Query.
