You were the one to point out the article from the Congressional Archive to me. I'm still wondering which article to believe. The one that reads Hannah Duncan as Thomas wife or Hannah DuMars according to : Mercer County Cemetery Inscriptions; Vol. 6; Mercer County Death Certificate Information : Thomas Gillespie; white ; male ; Age, 78y ; father,_________; mother,_______; occupation, farmer; Born,Ireland; Wife, Hannah Dumars ; Birth Date,_______; Death Date,Feb 21, 1853; Cause of Death, dropsy; Residence, Salem Twp. (Mercer Co., Pa.) ; Burial Place, Salem Cem., Salem Twp.; Informant, John K. Robert; Residence, Salem Twp. Is the information an error in Death Certificate stating wife's name ? Or is the Congressional archives in error? I do tend to be leery of Mercer County data because there are alot of errors (on our families anyway!). I still don't know if John D. Gillespie is Thomas Gillespie's son or not. The stories of being a DuMars surely must ring true. Family lore is not always acurate but not to be dismissed either! We do know Thomas had a son John. I did find out the Thomas Gillespie Married Myra is a different Gillespie family , Thomas Gillespie (son of John, grandson of Samuel ) married Almira (Myra) Clark .
