I have an ancestor from Kilsyth, Scotland who died in 1874 in Hickory Township, Mercer County. His name was William Hardie. He died young at age 35, which makes me wonder if he might have died in a mining accident. I am looking for any references that cover mining accidents in 1874. Is that too far back? I have never been able to find his burial place. The family appear in the 1870 census in Hickory Township, but I believe they may have lived in West Middlesex, Mercer Co in 1874.
