"The Rat House" in reference to the theatre rang a bell in my mind. I was born in Sharon although we lived out of the town at Lamont's Corners. I was only 7 when my family left the Sharon area. Nevertheless, I recall going to the movies with my parents, and their refering to the theatre as "The Rat House". I once asked my dad why they called it that. He said people accidently dropped popcorn on the floor because they couldn't see what they were doing in the dark. Rats came to eat the corn and someone had been bitten once. We saw Snow White, and Bambi at that theatre when those movies first came out.
this is where I saw Over TheRainbow couldn't afford the Columbia Theater. The Theater was down by the River That is why they got the Rats another place during the 40's was Jack's Bar a hang out for young workers. It was down near the river and I saw a big rat run across the floor one night while eating my dinner. ----- Original Message ----- From: <HullPK@aol.com> To: <PAMERCER-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, October 21, 2004 7:38 AM Subject: Re: [PAMERCER] Question on old locations in Sharon, PA > "The Rat House" in reference to the theatre rang a bell in my mind.
