Dear Lynn sometimes it will be a small item in a weekly paper. I found my grandfather's death 1882 in an old weekly paper in the New Castle, Library it was exactly two lines. I also have a relative I think your Nelson is part of their family I will contact the gentleman by phone to night and see if I can get you an answer.I have this on a William Nelson Of Slippery rock PA. who died shortly before 6 May 1820 I wonder if this is your William Nelson.HAppy Hunting. gamma@world-net.net ----- Original Message ----- From: "Lynne Ramsey" <lramz@theriver.com> To: <PAMERCER-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, May 12, 2005 10:09 PM Subject: [PAMERCER] Early obituaries > Dear Listers, > Does anyone know if there is a source for early (1820-1840) newspaper > obituaries for Mercer Co., PA? Any connection to Joseph Nelson Sr. b. 1799 and married Martha (Mattie) Coulter b. 1810 in Straben Twp., Adams, PA to Josiah and Ann Campbell Coulter? The family settled in Salem Twp., Mercer, PA between 1820-1825. Josiah and Ann are my third great grandparents.
