    1. Re: [PAMERCER] Yeackel and Jowett
    2. I perked up when I saw the name SCHAEFFER. I wonder if your Louis Schaeffer might be related in some way. My Grandfather, Henry J. Schaeffer or Schaefer, was born 12-6-1864 in London England, the son of Henry H. Schaeffer (born 1841 in Germany) and Margaret Callahan (born 1840 in Ireland), and the oldest of 5 children, Henry Joseph, John "Joe", Rebecca, Florence, Edward. The family immigrated to Canada and settled in or near Fort Erie. Margaret died there and Henry H. remarried to Mary Gallagher, a Catholic. A 6th sibling, Marie, was born, though I don't know if it was to Margaret or to Mary. Henry J. , as a teenager, upset with his new step-mother, stowed away aboard a boat bound across Lake Erie to Buffalo, New York. He worked along the water front and eventually secured a job with the railroad. Apparently he had no further contact with his family so far as anyone in my family knows. He met and married Henrietta Martha "Nettie" Smith in Buffalo, NY They moved west along the railroad line to Ashtabula, OH where they lived out their lives and had 5 children, the youngest of whom was my mother. Their children were Margaret, Henry, Jr., Harold, Stella, and Mabel. Nettie died 1926, Henry J. married twice more (no further children), retired from Bow Socket Co, and died 1942. Both thought to be buried in Ashtabula, OH. All 3 daughters have died, whereabouts of the two boys unknown but believed to be New York State. If you have a connection, or if anyone seeing this knows anything, please email me at [email protected] I live in Arizona.
