The last requests for wills that I send to the Courthouse were returned with a note saying they were understaffed and no longer extracting wills. They had just sent me some a couple months prior to that. They referred me to the Historical Society and I haven't gotten a response from them yet. Will You can mail your request to the Mercer County Courthouse. It is 1.00 per page. Just send the numbers in. Here is a link to the page with the address and phone number. http://www.rootsweb.com/~pamercer/PA/C/Countyinfo/county_info.htm Pam ----- Original Message ----- From: "Terry Carpenter" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Saturday, June 21, 2003 9:27 PM Subject: [PAMERCER] Mercer Co. This is the same thing I've heard from county officials in some other counties -- not enough people to handle the work they already have, and copying old wills for genealogists has near-zero priority, especially for non-residents who don't vote in the county. I hope the historical society will step up to help them -- and all of us distant researchers. It's already working in some places -- hopefully Mercer Co. has a similarly active group of volunteers.
