    1. Re: [PAMERCER] Ubers in Mercer County, PA
    2. Steve, I have a John P. Uber not a John H. Uber. John P. was married to Elizabeth Sarah Rodgers. Elizabeth "Betsy" was born 11-11-1805 and died 9-1-1844. Their daughter, Mary Elizabeth was born 2-16-1836 in Springfield Twp., Mercer Co. and died 1-26-1913 in Deer Creek, Mercer Co, PA. Mary Elizabeth was married to Nathaniel Carey. Nathaniel and Mary Elizabeth's children were: Frances Clementine Carey, born 4-5-1860 and died 1944. She married James Dickson in 1890. James Hutchinson Carey, born 6-18-1863 and died 5-14-1935. He married Stella Caldwell in 1-21-1891. John Alexander Carey, born 3-21-1862 and died 4-27-1918. He married Mary Isabella Mailliard 6-3-1891. Charles Nathaniel Carey, born 10-15-1870 in Crawford PA and died 11-30-1949 in Deer Creek, Mercer Co., PA. He married Carrie Effie Neyman on 11-20-1895. Mary Ann Carey, born 1-29-1876 and died 1958. She married Louis M. Coleman 9-1-1897. Hope this helps. I'm from Elizabeth Rodgers side of this family. Claudia Manly Claudia E. 3. Actually John Harvey Uber, Sr and Catherine Harrold had 3 sons named John. John Peter Uber born March 26, 1797 who married 1st Maria Eva Keener and 2nd Mary Keener, John Michael Uber born July 26, 1799 who married Mary Ann Rodgers, and John Harvey Uber, Jr born September 26, 1803 who married 1st Elizabeth Rodgers (sister to the above Mary Ann) and 2nd Chloe Voorhies. John Harvey and Elizabeth are the parents of Mary Elizabeth Uber who married Nathaniel Culbertson Carey. Naming traditions have little to do with the way we do it nowdays. Middle names could be the daily usage, so having more than one John (especially with the mortality rate being what it was) in the hopes that one of them will survive to have families of there own wasn't that unusual.
