I am planning a trip to Linesville next week and would like to go to the Linesville Historical Society. Could anyone tell me their hours of operation and location? Any other tips on good places to do research in the Mercer county area? Thanks, Denise Researching the Rea family from Mercer
I spent a few days in Mercer about 3 years ago--there was more than I could handle! The courthouse in Mercer has copies of very old wills (I found one for my ggg grandfather's brother-in-law who died in the 1840s) and there are people at the Sharon Library to help researchers on Tuesdays. The library has an excellent collection. There were other resources that I never got to in the town of Mercer, and hence I don't remember the details about them. I'd suggest starting with the Sharon library on a Tuesday. Everywhere I went the people were truly wonderful! There is also info dealing with naturalization records but I don't remember where that source is--the library volunteers can tell you if your ancestors came directly to Mercer when they arrived in America.
