Surnames: Cozad, Cozadd, Shawgo, Lawerentz, Haggerty, Shaw Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/ldB.2ACI/2550 Message Board Post: Looking for information on Henry Anderson Cozad (ggggrandfather). According to Civil War records he served with the 100TH PA 'G' Co Infantry Volunteers out of Mercer County as a veterinarian. I have a very old business card of his that says he was at one time located at the Carthage Wagon Workds in Carthage MO (where he was married the first time, to Catherine Annis). Census records are sketchy for that time period on the Cozad family, I know that his wife or widow, Rebecca Jane Reagle Cozad later remarried a fellow by the name of DeLong. Her children with Henry are as follows: Anderson Cozad b.1854, Delia Cozad b.1856 (I've seen this listed three different ways: Ezelia, Azalia, and now Delia on the 1870 Census. In letters and postcards to my gggrandfather, she spelled it as Azelia), Henry Cozad b. 1858 (his actual full name is Charles Henry Cozad, this was my gggrandfather), John H. b. 1865, and Mark A. b. 1867. What I am looking for is information pertaining to Henry Ander! son Cozad's death. If anyone has any information they would like to share, or are more interested in this branch of Cozads' (I have lots of information, pictures, letters, etc) please contact me!

Surnames: Calvin, Johnson, Miller Classification: Obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/ldB.2ACI/2566 Message Board Post: The Chariton Leader, Chariton, Iowa Thursday, August 22, 1907 ALEXANDER MCCULLOUGH CALVIN was born near Mercer County, Penn., Feb. 18, 1841, aged 66 years, 5 months and 26 days, the end coming Wednesday afternoon, August 14th. He was married Sept. 12, 1867 to AMANDA JOHNSON. The same fall he came west with his wife and located in Wilmington, Illinois where he remained until 1871, when he moved to Russell, after which he moved to the farm where he has been ever since with the exception of about five years he lived in Pennsylvania from '81 to '86. To this union were born two sons, EDWARD M. CALVIN, of Chester, Illinois and HERBERT D. CALVIN, of Russell. His wife died March 2d, 1881. January 14, 1886, he was married to LIZZIE MILLER in Pennsylvania, and to this union was born one son, GEORGE WASHINGTON CALVIN, who survives him. He was again called to give up his wife, Aug. 25, 1885. Besides his children he leaves to mourn their loss, three sisters who live in Pennsylvania, two of whom were present at the funeral, and he has one sister and two brothers dead. MR. CALVIN was a man of deep religious convictions and a sweet religious experience. He was converted when twelve years of age and united with the First Presbyterian Church of Mercer, Penn., and afterwards moved his membership to Ill., thence to the Russell Presbyterian Church, of which he was a faithful and efficient elder since 1887. His liberality to the church was known and appreciated by everyone, and his counsel was wise and helpful in all matters pertaining to the affairs of the Kingdom. He also served the Sabbath School in the capacity of Superintendent, and for a number of years past he has been the teacher of the Bible Class. He served his country in the 119th Pa. Volunteers and was a good citizen, neighbor and friend. The church community and home will miss him, and the bereaved ones have the sympathy of the entire community in their great loss. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. S.A. Soxe from the Presbyterian Church, Saturday at 3:30 -- funeral discourse: "Magnifying Christ in Life or Death," Phil. 1:20-21, assisted by Revs. Stote and Rusk. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Copied by Nancee(McMurtrey)Seifert December 30, 2004 iggy29@rnetinc.net http://www.rootsweb.com/~ialucas/Main.htm posted at this site with Nancee's permission.
