Looking for any info on McCune, McWhirter or Thompson. McCune and McWhirter came from N. Ireland in 1822. Thompson came over earlier. There may have been McWhirters and McCunes in the area earlier also. Fact: Our John McWhirter, b. 1809 N. Ireland, told his daughter that his father's family had come to the area following recommendations from his cousin who married a Thompson and came earlier. Need to find this Thompson to make a big connection to Scotland in 1600's. Theory: Mary McCune McWhirter may have had relatives who moved to the area after they did ( 1822) Amy McWhirter Hutton

If so, we are very distant cousins. My SPANGLERs ended up in Armstrong Co., Pa. Jim Wise
Hi cousin Jim, Yep - one and the same. I think there were so many Spanglers after several generations that they had to move west (and north) to find land and make a living. My Spangler line from the immigrant is: 1) Johann Baltzer Spangler (1706-1765) m. 1732 Magdalena Ritter. 2) Rudolf Spangler (1738-1811) m. 1767 Dorothea Dinkel (1748-1835) 3) John Daniel Spangler (1781-1851) m. 1815 Elizabeth King (1796-1863). There is a Spangler web site that is pretty good, at http://www.spanglers.info/ Unfortunately, it looks like Fillmore Spangler Jr passed away in 2004, but his son has improved the web site tremendously. George Gordon b ca 1755, is still a total mystery. His family was split between Venango and Mercer Co.'s. His son, Joseph Gordon married Isabel Foster, dau. of Hugh Foster and Mary McCullough. Larry, Roll calls - about twice a year. Rules - Put surnames in subject line and more info in the body of the email. Main rule (same as you'll find on most Rootsweb lists): Only Admin calls for Roll Call. Primarily, this has to do with the time of year and volume of mail. On one of my other lists, a subcriber sent a Roll Call email during Thanksgiving. Really, really bad time as subscribers mail boxes filled up quickly.
