Linn and Wm. H. Egle, M.D. 1880 I would like to take Muster Rolls from the book to be included on the Mercer County page, HOWEVER, the book is arranged by Captain of each Militia unit. Carlos N. Olvera has the Mercer County, Penn. Soldiers: Revolutionary War, War of 1812, Civil War. but will be out of town for a few weeks. If this matches your info I need her birth date and the names of her parents. Also the location of her parents homestead. The Robert MILLER I have was the husband of Martha A. COVERT, daughter of Isaac M. COVERT. Both Robert and Martha are buried in Woodland Cemetery, Grove City. They had a son William but it doesn't appear to be your Wm. Gayle

Thanks to Tom Felt <tom_felt@compuserve.com>, we now have an 1850 history of the founding days of Mercer Co. now online at the web site. It is in the County Histories section. The title of this 18-page history is "Remarks and General Observations on Mercer County, Pennsylvania. By B. Stokely, the First Actual Resident Settler in the County." It first appeared in an 1850 volume of the "Memoirs of the Historical Society of Pennsylvania." It is an interesting piece, recounting the days of the first white settlement of Mercer County in the 1790s (before the formation of the county) and the early 1800s. Tom has indicated he plans on making other works of Mercer County history available for the web site. Thanks Tom! Hello Everyone-- I just joined this list and haven't seen much traffic. Ordinarily I'd lurk a bit, but a question has come up that I thought I'd consult you to speed things up a bit. I am researching my grandmother's family BRONDER who was (and I think some still are--it's a long story) in Greenville, PA. Shirley Minshull, a volunteer from the Mercer County Historical Society has been very helpful and given me lots of leads to work with. My question is this: Most of the Bronders apparently worked for the B&LERR. I see that there is a Greenville Railroad Museum, and I am wondering if anyone knows what kind of material it houses. (I have not been able to locate a web site). At this point I'm interested in just about anything I can get my hands on, but I am particularly interested in pictures. First I want to thank all publicly for the info on Union Home Cemetery. It was a great help. Secondly with the information provided I was able to go to the Map Blast site and the Tiger Mapping Site and pull down some very useful information. I now have a very detailed map of the area from just west of highway 173 east to Jameson Road and bounded on the north by an area just north of McCurdy Road on down south to below Scrubgrass Road. I have found Union Home Cemetery on the map. What is also great is that I could take that map to my wife who as a little girl visited her grandmother in the late 1930s and early 1940s and could jog her memory. She remember visiting the cemetery but knew little else about it. She also thinks that her mother Grace Lillian Northcote was born on a farm on the east side of Creek Road between Millbrook Road and McCurdy Road. Her father was Thomas H Northcote b. 1866/d 8-18-1941 His mother was Mary Jane McKindry Her mother was Elizabeth Lillian McFarlin b. 11-4-1865/ d. 1963 Her father was John A. McFarlin b. 6-3-1823/d. 9-12-1901 Her mother was Lavina Wick Kimmel b. 1836? 1831? /d. 12-16-1912 Lavina's father was Isaac C. Kimmel b. 1807? 1804? / d. 1882? Wife of Isaac was Anna K. Wick b. 1813 in Ohio died 1887 After this string I believe that their ancestors came from outside of Mercer County Since Mr. Northcote farmed in the Millbrook area and Grace Lillian Northcote was born there and We now think that it was on leased property on the east side of Creek Road I guess my next quest is to try to locate land records for that area. If any can point me downwind on this search I am much obliged. Thank you, Walt
