    2. I called the State Dept of New York State, Division of Corprations in Alban (518-473-2492) today. They are sending me the forms, outline of instructions, etc. to incorporate. When they come in, I will pass them on to Don. When I asked whether a lawyer was necessary, they replied: "That's up to you. A lot of people do it on their own". Hans

    2. Jeffrey A. Franks
    3. Michael, The Battle for the Wilderness was a very bloody campaign, with a heavy loss of life. It took place in May and June of 1864, which was less than a year before the end of the Civil War. Check out this link for a good summary. http://tqd.advanced.org/3055/netscape/experience/battles/wildernesscampaign.html Jeffrey Franks Michael Hoovler wrote: > Hi All, > Just wondering if the Civil War was also known as the Battle of the Wilderness. 1. [PAMERCER-L] Mary Jane Kyle McWhirter
    2. Does anyone have KYLEs in Mercer or Jefferson or any other western PA counties? I am looking for parents of my great grandmother, Mary Jane Kyle. All I know is that she had a sister named Elizabeth (Lizzie) who married a man named Clawges. Lizzies had been living in Corsica, Jefferson County, PA I found a Mary J. Kyle and sister Elizabeth living in Cedarville, Greene Co,OH. Birth year listed as 1846. Mary Jane's Bible give her birthdate as April 23, 1848. Since the other children on the list from Cedarville have full birthdates and Mary J only has a year I think someone was guessing and was off by 2 years. The father of this clan is David Mitchell Kyle, b 1811, Cedarville, OH, married to Eleanor Collins. Can anyone tell me if I am on the right track? Anyone know how to get a 1929 death certificate for Mercer? From New Castle? Did they keep death cert's then? Amy McWhirter Hutton

    3. Interested in the early history of Eastbrook, Mercer County, now in Lawrence County. Particlularly interested in the Fisher family, who helped found the community. Thomas Fisher settled on Fisher's Run near Eastbrook ca. 1802. He owned a mill and farmed. The town was later built on Fisher land. John Fisher led a Mercer regiment in the War of 1812, owned a general store and served as first postmaster of Eastbrook. Married relations include the McDowell's and Stewarts. Thanks. 2. Lucy Peterson
    3. Cassie, I saw thepost of your names. I wish I could help you. But maybe you can help me solve a mystery. I have a Susannah McCammant who married Henry Dean as a second wife about 1853. They had 2 children -- Lucy, who married A.D. (Daniel) Voorhies and Dessie, who married Derius W. Jewell. In her will she mentions a grandaughter who is Lucy's child. Then she mentions a granddaughter Bonnie Jewell -- Dessie's daughter. Then she mentions 2 granddaughters, Minnie and Dilley Bowles. I have no idea who they are! I have found no evidence of a child prior to her marriage, but it could be. I have also looked at the step-children (she was the 2nd wife) and no luck. Do you have any Bowles by those names?? She died in 1896 in Mercer County. I'd like any clue to figure out that connection. I hope you have one! Lucy

It is believed that he was among those brought over by Andrew Carnegie to build his mills. CHILDREN: SARAH MARIA ROBERTS was married to SAMUEL YOUNG and she had at least one daughter named Ella Young. HARRY ROBERTS (b. 1-1-1850 in Sharon, Mercer County, PA; d. 3-20-1935 in Wilkinsburg, Allegheny County) was married to FRANCES ELIZABETH (FANNY) DICKSON (b. 1856 in New Metamoras, Washington County, OH; d. 2-16-1927 in Wilkinsburg, Allegheny County) They lived for a while (approx. mid to late 1870's) in Mercer County and lived out their lives in Wilkinsburg, Allegheny County PA. Fanny's parents were ALEXANDER DICKSON [son of CHRISTOPHER DICKSON (from Ireland) and FRANCES LEWIS (from Tyler County, (now West) Virginia)] and ELIZABETH ANN SHAW. I have significant amounts of information on Fanny's family for those who want it. HARRY and FANNY's Children were: SAMUEL G. ROBERTS who wrote western novels/novellas under the pen name Sam Galbreath. Sam was said to have left Pennsylvania to join the circus as a young man. Was working as a ranch hand in the west. Lived in Arizona. He was married, but not much else is known at this time. Sam died in the late 60's. GEORGE ROBERTS (B. 1-26-1874 in Wilkinsburg, Allegheny County; d. 6-12-1957 in Wilkinsburg, Allegheny County) married to Mary Buzzard (b. 2-5-1877 in Swissvale (?) Harry served in the Spanish American War. They had at least one child, a son named Donald. EDWARD THOMAS ROBERTS (b. 12-14-1879 in Wilkinsburg, Allegheny County, d. 1-24-1960, Swissvale, Allegheny County, PA) married June 12, 1901 in St. Stephens Rectory, Wilkinsburg, PA JEAN HALL DRUMMOND (b. 1-24-1879 in Glasgow Scotland, d. 7-30-1953 Swissvale, Allegheny County, PA) daughter of William Drummond and Jean Hall. Edward worked for Union Switch & Signal in Swissvale, lost hand in factory accident. Later became a Swissvale Police Officer. Children: Frances Jean, Naomi, Edward, Howard, Alexander, Ruth, Margaret, Helen and John MARGARET K. ROBERTS (b. 12-14-1879 in Wilkinsburg, Allegheny County, d. UNK, Wilkinsburg, Allegheny County, PA) married to John Irwin Pratt who died in 1927, then remarried (in 1935) to Maurice L. Thompson, Esq. WILLIAM ROBERTS (b. 1-1884, d. 3-16-1884 died at 3 mos. of age). ELMER ALEXANDER ROBERTS (born 12-14-1883 in Wilkinsburg, Allegheny County, PA, d. 2-24-1957 in Wilkinsburg, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania) married Mercedes Wendell. One child: Thomas Edward ROBERT FRANCIS ROBERTS (b. 1889 in Wilkinsburg, Allegheny County, PA, d. Unk.) married to Emma Junker. I've included all of this Allegheny County info for the benefit of any other Roberts descendents searching for their Mercer County roots as many of the family had for years mistakenly thought Harry's name to have been Thomas. If you are descended from Harry and Fanny or have any information on their children or their ancestors, please contact Ray Roberts at rroberts@p-b-llp.com or 69229@netscape.net Thank you for your help. PS Apologies to all for the jibberish that appeared as a result of formatting of my original message.
