    1. [PAMERCER-L] The Edeburns+Wards+McBrides
    2. Shirley Anderson
    3. This is a shot in the dark but have seen information that ties these three surnames together. Unfortunately, I cannot seem to locate that document. Does anyone else, who might be researching Ward or McBride, find that their ancestor married an Edeburn. Even though an Edeburn who served in the Revolutionary War was from Mercer County, I have not found anyone else who is researching this surname...driving me nutttts. Thanks for reading..Shirley Anderson (skanet@netscape.net) P.S. I did discover an Edeburn still lives in West Middlesex but the record only showed a mailing address (no email). I guess I will have to take my courage in hand and write to this person...what a coward.

Yes this information is in my copy. Yes, there is a “Wolf Creek Legacy(I).” The (I) did not appear in the title. It wa s copywritten in 1980 also by Allied News - same author. I grew up in Grove City and graduated from the college there in 1955. I knew many of the people and farms mentioned in both, especially in II. Many of my relatives are mentioned in it. 1. [PAMERCER-L] Berrier or Borger, and Ferguson
    2. I am trying to find information on my ancestor, Matthew Wilson Berrier, born in Mercer co, Dec. 26, 1835. His father was John Berrier (Borger) who was born in Poland in 1785. His mother was Ann (or Sarah?) Ferguson born in Ireland. Sarah or Ann may have been a second wife and there were supposedly 5 other older brothers. Are there any birth, death or marriage records from this time?

    1. [PAMERCER-L] Names
    2. NOREEN MCCANN
    3. Hi all! I'm new to the list, and have been observing the correspondence before posting. It was nice to notice a few familiar names out there. All of the lines I am researching resided, and most currently reside, in Mercer County. Names: Paternal-- McCANN- 1830s and on; MASSON- 1830s and on; McDONALD- 1700s and on; BARBILLION- 1830s and on; MARTIN- 1830s and on; and JENNINGS- early 1800s; SCHIESTLE- 1850s and on; and MARIARCHER- 1850s and on. Maternal-- SAYLOR- 1840s and on; HENRY (German)- 1840s and on; ZUSHLAG- 1840s and on; DIEHL- 1840s and on; RYAN (German)- 1840s and on; BECKSTEIN- 1830s and on; and MUELLER (MILLER)- 1830s and on. Someone who posted recently was asking about emigration patterns. My McCann line came from County Meath, Ireland- to Canada- to Buffalo, NY- and then to Mercer. If you haven't checked out the US GENWEB project yet, please do so! The Mercer County site of the PA GENWEB section has the entire 1850 census for Mercer online. Finally, I would also like to give kudos to the Mercer County Genealogical Society. Through the years they have written one of the best genealogical newsletters I have seen. Also, their volunteers are very friendly and helpful,. both through the mail and in person. Noreen McCann Manassas, Va.

    2. Donna Mohney
    3. Among the photos that I mentioned in my last post are these that I recognizes as being from the Mercer, Beaver, Lawrence County area. I will gladly make copies if you connect with these persons. They are connected to my Morrow, McConahy, Book families. Nellie Means- looks to be about a year or so old Frederick McConnell under one year of age Mr. and Mrs. Charles Johnston and daughter Nellie Ralph Shiver/Stiver/Sliver- (hard to read.) appears to be about 9 months or so old This are related to me: Sierra Nevada (Morrow) Book Margaret (McConahy) Morrow George Van Eman Morrow James Preston Book I have several class photos which I believe to be of the Lowellville Ohio school in the 1940's-50's. and several others which I believe would be the Moravia area school district ca. 1890-1900. No names. I can identify my father/uncles in Lowellville.

    1. [PAMERCER-L] FAMILY PHOTOS
    2. Donna Mohney
    3. Hi all. I apologize ahead of time to those who will get more than one copy of this but thought it was important enough for all. I just attended the funeral of my 78 year old aunt. She was the self-appointed guardian of all family info and she guarded it well. I've been doing research for almost 20 years and she absolutely refused to let me have access to my grandmother's photos, etc. Yesterday, my father, who inherited from his sister, gave me access to this material. I found my grandfather's death certificate and the sermon read at his funeral, my grandmother's birth certificate, wedding certificate, death certificate, obituaries and family letters, church membership records, a history written in 1932 that confirms the royal line of one of my families and tells me that my Rodgers ancestor was the "tallest man in England in his day and had a huge head", school reports for my aunts and uncles (now deceased), I could go on and on. But what's important is this: I now have photos- hundreds of them from my gggrandmother, Margaret McConahy and gggrandfather, George Van Eman Morrow, down to my own son. So what's wrong? Many of then aren't labeled- some of them were hanging in a damp basement, some are falling apart, some glued to the album, etc . I have a photo of three teenagers that is just marked "Morrow". Now I think it is my grgrandmother and her siblings but ? Sadly the older family members are mostly gone and I don't know if they will ever be identified. So, I am begging all of you- share the photos, etc. now, sit down with the family members and mark them - get your own info in order so that 100 years from now, our descendants aren't lamenting the loss of family info. You can bet that within the next few weeks, all of my photos will be labeled. and copies of these photos made and shared with my cousins. Thanks for listening and I hope this saves at least one photo. Donna

    2. George Mansell
    3. I noticed the WILBUR BAIRD, FLORIST name posted in the Yearbook listings by Ed Floyd & Family. It is of interest to me because my great grandfather, J. ELMER COOK (1882-1926) was also a florist and worked for Baird or was otherwise associated with the Baird Florist Establishment in Greenville. If anyone can shed any light on this business or the people mentioned, I would appreciate it very much. George Mansell (Born and early childhood in Greenville, Mercer County.)

    3. It says it is a history of southeastern Mercer County. On quick glance I see the name Giebner mentioned briefly in a couple of places. In an article on Samuel Coleman, Centertown Postmaster it says: "In addition to being a political person, Samuel Coleman was guardian for several minors, including Tiny Giebner." In an article about the Star Cornet Band it mentions the Wolf Creek Band. Ephraim Geibner and Jason T. Geibner were members. It has a lot about the Grace family, in which I see Sarah Geibner married James Grace. As I mentioned before I don't know who published the booklet. Maybe it is still available? My husband's uncle probably got it in the 1970s. (But I don't know that for sure even.) Joanne

    2. Vicci, Gosh, I sure wish I could find something about my Frye's. I have so little to go on. But here it is: John Frye born ? where ? m. Ella Nichols. They had issue of the following children: Mary Belle b. 1880 b. Sperryville, Va. m. a Hauger Josephine "Josie" b. 1882 b. Va. m. 2nd Pete Liberty John Jr. b. 1887 m. Lillian Lever William Walter "Bud" Frye b. 1889 Charleston, W. Va. **Elmer b. 1892 in Terra Alta, W. Va.m. Gladys Freeland---- (My GParents) Charles b. 1898 William b. 1904 Mercer Co., Pa. Now Josephine's daughter is in her late 70's and has recollections of things that her mother has told her. Some wrong, some right. She sure tried hard enough to remember for me, but some things just were not correct. She had all boys born in Terra Alta, W. Va. and I have other information, so that was not correct. She says that her mother stated that all boys were Frye's, but the girls had another father. That could have been, but as far back as I have info. there is no proof to that and both girls had the Frye name on EVERYTHING. But, not discounting that fact yet. My Mother and her siblings were placed in an orphanage when they were very young. My Mother was only 3 at the time. Parents divorced. She knows very little about her family and seem all the people in the family that I have found know just as much. It is a puzzling family. I have been searching for many years. Son John Jr. was at his mother, Ella's funeral in 1931 in Sharon, Pa. He was the informant on the death certificate. He states that he was living in Cleveland, Ohio at that time. There are many John Frye's in that town in that era and I am searching the never ending track on him, hoping to find a clue there. That's about it. Sure wish you had something on them. 3. Hi all, As a follow-up to my last message, I wanted to thank those that let me know that there is no Butler, Mercer County. I did know that at one time, but had forgotten and also neglected to say in my post that the biographical sketch done by my gggrandfather may have been wrong, but I have no way to know for sure. There are many ways to read what is in that document. I took "settled near Butler, Mercer County, PA" to mean that they settled near Butler, BUT in Mercer County. For all I know Butler might have been the only sizable town in the area at that time and hence they used it as a reference. I may be wrong but in any case I thought it was worth asking you good people if you might have any knowledge of an Alexander family in that time frame, in Mercer County. Thanks to all who took the time to read my post and good luck in your own searches! Regards, Tom

As Sarah Roberts was born on 5 June 1767 and married John Fisher in 1810, she would have been 43 years old. I have her death date as 20 December 1845. (It is my personal belief that this was a second marriage for her.) Sarah Roberts was 11 years older than Bishop Robert Richford Roberts. There were 13 children of Robert Morgan Roberts & Mary Richford. The Bishop was the 3rd Robert of those children, the first 2 dying at infancy. Robert Morgan Roberts was son of Robert Roberts and Sarah Morgan. Mary Richford was daughter of Thomas Richford & Esther ?.
