    1. [PAMERCER-L] Jones Ancestry
    2. Nancy E. Hagen-Liddle
    3. Hi there, I've joined this list to try to get information on that slipperiest of ancestors a Jones. (OK, I know you Smiths have a hard time too) My grandmother was MARGARET JONES born in Sharon, Mercer County, Pa in 1875. She has a brother Will and a sister Sarah. That's all I know except that the family was from Wales. Anybody out there looking for my bunch of Welsh Joneses? Any suggestions as to where I could look to find records of my Grandmother that might give me more information? I've tried the 1880 census and struck out. I'll be delighted with any information or help anyone can provide. Thanks, Nancy Hagen-Liddle

    3. Hi Nancy- I saw your message on the Mercer Co. List and just noticed the Bortner name in your signature. When I was a small child my Mills Grandparents lived on the Bortner Farm in southeast (or southcentral) Crawford Co. I think it was taken over by the Keystone Ordinance Works (called the TNT when I was growing up). What do you know about the Bortners or the farm? 1. [PAMERCER-L] Meet my brick wall: Margaret ORR Luce!
    2. Richard H. Brown & Cassie Langley Brown
    3. Hi everyone, I'm still hopelessly looking for more information on my 3G Grandma, Margaret ORR. Here's what I do know: Margaret ORR was born 23 May 1852 in PA. She died 16 Apr 1945 in Youngstown, Mahoning Co., OH. She is buried at Oakwood Cemetery in Sharon, Mercer Co., PA. She married Josiah LUCE (son of John LUCE & Amanda BOLE) (1848-1915) and had three daughters: Maude, Vera, and Grace. Maude (1871-1957) married James LANGLEY; Vera (1878-1911) married Evan JONES; and Grace (1882-1966) married Edward LEWIS. The family resided at Fisher Hill in Sharon for many years. Here's what I want to know: I'd love to discover her parents and siblings' names and more facts about her childhood. My grandfather (her great grandson) told me that somehow his grandmother Maude LUCE Langley (Margaret ORR's daughter) was Scotch-Irish and that the family was from Belfast originally. I'm pretty sure the LUCEs are of English origin, so I'm guessing it's the ORR line that is connected to Belfast. I'd definately like to unravel this part of the mystery. Just when I thought I was going to find out who her parents were.... I got her death certificate and excitedly hoped to find the name of her parents. However, whoever filled it out or provided the info must have misunderstood the nature of Father's name and Mother's maiden name----instead, they put Margaret herself and her husband, Josiah (I'm guessing my 3G Aunt Grace gave the info and for some reason thought she was to give her own father & mother's name)---so instead of saying Father: so and so ORR and Mother: so and so? it said: Father: Josiah LUCE and Mother: Margaret ORR. Back to the drawing board! If anyone has any idea on how I can get her figured out, I'd be so appreciative. By any miracle if anyone is connected to this family, I would be ecstatic!
