    1. [PAMERCER-L] 1870 Mercer County census: Green Township index
    2. John MacDonald
    3. Hello listmembers, The index of the 1870 census for Green Township is available. This is NOT the entire township, as Jamestown Borough, which lies entirely within Green Township was enumerated separately. I am working on Jamestown now and it will be available soon. As with the other indexes, this is an alphabetical listing, by surname, of each individual found in Green Township. This index also includes the page number as found in the microfilmed census books, the family number, first name, and age of each individual. If you would like the complete census information for an individual or family, I can send the entire township census as an attached file in TEXT format. Any word processing program will open the file. (PLEASE NOTE: due to my time restrictions, I am unable to look up and send the information for spedific individuals or families). If you request this index, I'll add you to my mailing list and you'll receive future indexes automatically. If you do not want to recieve future indexes, please make a note of that in your request for the Green Twp index. This census is being is transcribed as part of the GenWeb Census Project. Before being posted on their web site, a transcription must be proofread. In the interest of helping Mercer County researchers, I am making this transcrption available as I finish each township. Please be advised that this has not yet been proofread! 1. [PAMERCER-L] REMLEY/AYRES Families
    2. Randy Seaver
    3. Hi listers, I am researching the REMLEY and AYRES families that lived in Mercer County PA ib the 1840 to 1860 time frame. Does someone have access to the Mercer County history book? If so, can you tell me if there are any listings for the REMLEY or AURES families? Baltzer Remley is listed in the 1840 census (age 40 to 50) in Springfield township and in 1850 (age 56) in Delaware township. Daniel Remley was born in 1821, the son of Baltzer Remley. He is listed in the 1860 and 1870 census in Wilmington township in Lawrence County. Daniel married Margaret Ayres before 1850. A William Ayres (age 30 to 40) is in the 1840 census in Neshannock township in Mercer County, as is a Mary Ayres (age 80 to 90, with 4 males in the 15 to 50 age range) in Cool Spring township. My guess is that this William Ayres is the father of Margaret Ayres. Are there any others searching for these families in Mercer County? Thanks for any help. -- Randy Seaver rjseaver@electriciti.com

    1. [PAMERCER-L] Official launch of www.search.org
    2. Edward A. Scriven
    3. Good morning from Utah. This morning's Deseret News has an article saying the LDS website has finished its testing stage and has been having about 7 million hits daily. The official launch of the site is set for Monday morning, May 24th, with a press conference in front of the Genealogical Library in Salt Lake City. In the test stage the IGI was information from the UK, the US, and Finland. The article did not say when, or even if, other countries and areas would be added, but I certainly hope so. The article also did not elaborate as to what else would change, but it did indicate there would be additional information made available over time, so we may have to wait and see. Hope this site continues to help us find our families. Have a great day and much success in your research. Ed Scriven Layton, UT
