    1. [PAMERCER-L] Stephenson/Patterson in Stoneboro, 1860's-1870's
    2. Hello everyone. I'm looking for any information on James and Hannah Stephenson, my gr gr grandparents. They emigrated from England to PA, and I was told they lived in Stoneboro, Mercer Co. during the 1860's-1870's. I'm looking to confirm this, if possible. James and Hannah had a son, John (my gr grandfather) who was born in PA, exact date UNK. John eventually shows up in Hamilton Co. TN around 1905, married to an Ellen Patterson, but I have no information on her at all, so I'm unsure if the marriage took place in PA or TN. Ellen had a sister named Missouri and a brother named Charlie, parents UNK.. Any help at all GREATLY appreciated! Sincerely, Patty Penny

Many thanks for any suggestions... Linda Emerson Twain Harte, CA

There are many sites like it and I would suggest to all that receive this to pass it on to as many genealogy researchers as you know as this can be a great help to many. Good Luck , I am going back to find more relatives. By the way I found the address in a book entitled Locating Lost Family Members and Family. 1. [PAMERCER-L] Mercer Co. 1850 Census correction log
    2. Richard Winder
    3. Hello, The following is a list of corrections for the Mercer Co. 1850 census. Some of these corrections may already appear, others may not have been logged in. If you downloaded and saved an earlier copy of the census, it may not have any of these corrections. For that reason, I am generally posting this list, as well as forwarding it to the coordinator. Concise error reports are welcome- I follow the same routine for all error reports- I check the microfilm again, and try to decide if the error in question falls into one of three categories: 1) My typographical error or misinterpretation 2) An error of the enumerator, or a perceived error of the enumerator 3) A misapprehension of the reporter, or a judgment call Below is, I think, a complete list of errors reported for my 1850 Mercer Co. census transcripts, and agreed upon so far. It is relatively small, given that about 30,000 names were transcribed. The errors below are all category 1 errors, or errors yet to be checked- I tried not to reinterpret what the enumerator wrote, except for some corrections on overlapped numbers to avoid double-referencing in any future data bases. I take no action on category 2 and 3 errors. Error list to date: All instances of the surname "Worford" in Hickory and Pymatuning Townships should be "Morford". Wolfcreek Tp. schedule 23, Lines 6-11 on should be dwelling 167, not 166. Also, Philpor (196) should be corrected to Philpot. The surname for lines 30 through 41 under Schedule 21, Frame 326, Enumeration Date 23 August 1850 for East Lackawannock TWP should read "Aley" rather than "Hey." (the surname above it remains "Hay"). In Pymatuning, Frame 121-122, lines 36-2, the names should read: 36 150 151 Maskrey B. 37 150 151 Maskrey Sarah (Change Sarah from Maskry to Maskrey) 38 150 151 Maskry Henry A. 39 150 151 Maskry Martha 40 150 151 Maskry Sarah 41 150 151 Maskry John 42 150 151 Maskry Helen Schedule 21, Frame no. 122, Enumerated October 22, 1850 1 151 152 Maskry Edward 2 151 152 Maskry Endema (Change Ed and Endema from Maskey to Maskry) Coolspring, schedule 8, line 4: Hannah Maskre should have the same family number (989, not 990) as the others in that dwelling. Springfield, schedule 28, lines 21-28: The surname for this family should be Richael, not Richad. E. Lackawannock, schedule 21, lines 28-29: The birthplace for these two individuals should read "New York", not "Mercer County, Pa.". Lines 30-31: The birthplace for these two individuals should read "Pa.", not "New York". Worth, schedule 10, lines 6-12. The surname should be "Cillaman", not "Gillman". **I Still have to check on the ones below, will let you know** Pymatuning #16, 161, 162 through 23, 161, 162 surname Ferguson, not Feryson? Original papers have it numbered starting with 16, 162, 163 through 23, 162, 163? Wolf creek Silas B. Montgomery 4 years old = Cyrus J. Montgomery? Sandy creek twp. Schedule No. 69, lines 17-29 surname = Meacham, not Weekem? If you have reported an error and I confirmed it, but it does not appear above, please let me know. Sincerely, Richard S. Winder (Richard_Winder@bc.sympatico.ca)

From 1800 - 1804, all Mercer county governmental activities were handled by Crawford County. If you're looking for original tax, probate, etc records for Mercer 1800 - 1804, you must go to the Meadville Courthouse in Crawford County.
