    3. After having watched the posts the last week or so, it seems there were quite a few families who moved from Mercer County, PA out to Iowa in the early to mid 1850's! My Sweesy family was included in that exodus. What was the big deal in Iowa at that time??? Most of our family moved back here, but a couple stayed out there... Any ideas??? Thanks, Pat

    3. My Mercer County families are MCMILLEN & ROBB. Specifically, James Robb who married Martha and filed a will in Mercer Co in 1803 although I believe he died in Westmoreland Co. His daughter Elizabeth married Daniel McMillen. I have a double descendency from this couple through their daughter Ann who married Michael Geyer in 1820 and their son Jonathan who married Eliza Barclay. Would love to share information. My surname for Mercer Co Pa is MAHAN apparently the first one was William Mahan whose son James m. a woman named Jane there first 2 sons William and James were born in Mercer Co Pa in 1810 and 1811 but have never found a marriage record for James and Jane If anyone had a marriage book would love to find the date of marriage and last name for Jane They must have married around 1808 or 1809 tho some fellow researchers seem to think there was another daughter before William But have no proof. gkile@semo.net

    3. 8 Nov 99, Looking for any info on any Caughey in Western PA. Trying to track down John Caughey who was naturilized in 1804 in Mercer County. He came from Westmorland Co in the spring of 1796 with William McClean, Robert Roberts, and James Hubanks. He got a will listed in Book 2 page 63, dated 1836, Salem Twp. It's real intersesting reading on the MOA series on the internet. Does anyone know anything on Stevenson, Jane Caughey D. 1847 Age 87 MC 10 152 from the Mercer Co Cemetary index? Lastly does anyone have any CaNghey out their. I believe this must be a misprint, but who knows?
