It seems to me that when I posted my roll call I received a message about a Hobart Maskrey. At that time I dismissed it saying that if the name was Maskrey we definitely related but I didn't know where. Well I found where a Hobart Maskrey fits into my line. If you are still out there and want what limited info I have get back to me. Joy
Etta Maskrey b.1858 married Samuel Hazen b. 1848. Together they had three children Lowie, Vern and Harry. Etta Maskrey and my Grandmother Icia Maskrey were half sisters. I can't remember the person's name that was looking for Hazens. I seem to have deleted the message. Joy
Seaerching for info on descendents of Henry Black and Polly Allegan who settled in Mercer County around 1804 from York County, PA. Also searching Tidball and McElwaine families.
I am researching the descendent of Morgan THOMAS (1797-1874) of New Castle and his son William M. THOMAS (1829-1886) of Sharon, Mercer. Charlene
Dear Donna, Can you tell me who your Ross connection is in Mercer Co.? My gm was Grace D. Ross, daughter of John K. Ross. She was b. in Mercer Co., but married my gf William S. Pierce and died in Venango Co. Thanks, Linda Pierce Moore
I, also, have the Joseph Smith Dean ( I think he went by Smith) who married Ella E. Opitz. He is the son of Abner Dean (Jr.) who is the son of Abner Dean -- who is the son of Zachariah. I have some census records, marriage record and cemetery info on them if anyone needs it. Joseph Smith Dean had a sister named Nettie who supposedly married a Dr. BARNES. Anyone know anything about her? Lucy
I have recently returned from being out of town for a while (first on business and then a family death) and, boy! -- do I have a lot of catching up to do on this list! It's wonderful! I have little by little been researching the DEAN family in Mercer, Lawrence and surrounding counties. I have a copy of some research/gathering that was done on the family in the first part of this century and printed in a family newsletter in the 1940's. I have tried to check out each family with other data (census, wills, etc.) to see if it seems to be correct. I am certainly far from finished. There were two brothers who moved to the area: Jonathan and Zachariah Dean. (There is another Dean family that seems to connect, but so far I have not found the connection.) They also had a sister, Sarah, who was married to Caleb CORBIN. Another sister married a ROGERS. I have mostly concentrated so far on Zachariah's family. He had 2 daughters who married RODGERS. Others married DAVIS, BUMGARTNER and MOORE. I have tried to come down at least three generations on each. There are too many surnames to mention them all. But, if you have anyone who married a Dean, I might have some info and would love to share. I sometimes just get slow -- not enough time to go around. I will try to see where I might connect from the roll call. Happy Hunting! Lucy

My ggf was Thomas Kellar Pierce, b. 1841 in Crawford Co., PA. He had a sister named Jane Pierce, b. 1848, who married Charles Shoup. Could there be a connection with the Emma Dee Shoup you mentioned as having married Paul Lenoir Bruner? As I wrote you before, Tom K.'s son William S. Pierce was in partnership in a livery stable with H. E. Bruner in Franklin PA in the early 1900's. Maybe there was some kinship. Regards, Linda Pierce Moore
Wm. Emery m. Lydia Harlan Apr 23, 1815 in Butler Co., PA - they both died and are buried in Mercer Co. PA Wm. Emery was son of John Emery & Susanna (Ann) Covert. Lydia Harlan was dau of Jonathan Harlan & Elizabeth Fawcett. Wm. and Lydia (Harlan) Emery had dug. Sarah Rebecca who was my gr-grandmother. Sarah Rebecca Emery m. James Smith Marshall (married near Harlansburg, PA - Butler Co. ) James Smith Marshall was b. Aug. 2, 1824 Mercer Co. PA. He is son of William Marshall who m. Nancy Bolton. Interested in finding out more information on the families of the siblings of Sarah Rebecca Emery - who I have listed as: Anna m. Wm. Book; Mary m. Conrad Emery; David m Isabel Campbell; Lydia m. Stephen Morrison; Wm. Covert m. Mahala Boston; John Bentley m. Maid Kennedy. I am also very interested in trying to locate more information on the William & Nancy (Bolton) Marshall marriage and anything pertaining to them. Finding the record of this marriage has been our 'brick wall'. James Smith Marshall stated this in a compendium article: " .... father was a mechanic by trade, removed to Mercer co. in early life, and was there married to Miss Nancy Bolton, of Harmony, PA.. a daughter of William Bolton. Our subject was the only child born to this union, his mother dying when he was quite small, but his father married again and he holds in kindly remembrance the affectionate care of his step-mother. In his native town he was reared to manhood, attending first the public schools, and later being a student in the Mercer academy. During his youth he DROVE CANAL BOATS and engaged in any occupation which he could secure, early gaining an enviable reputation for doing things well." Any help with these families would be greatly appreciated, and perhaps I can also be of help in return. Saw this on the Ohio Valley list and I had to check it out. In honor of Veteran's Day, the military databases at Ancestry.com are free until November 17th. It's a good time to check out your ancestors who might have fought in the Revolutionary war - they have a DAR database, as well as many other war rosters. And, a partial database of the World War I draft card registrations. www.ancestry.com Then click on "In search of Military Heroes" to see a complete list of the databases. Teri

Paul Lenoir Bruner's wife, Emma Dee Shoup was born 1889, died Jan 1930. Her husband Paul was a Doctor and I remember him well. He and my Dad were very close. We used to visit his farm and I can remember all the animals. He later remarried Josephine ?. She gave me most of the family information I have on the Bruners. Emma Dee Shoup, Paul Lenoir Bruner and Henry Christian Bruner are buried at Franklin Cemetery, Franklin, PA. Also have record of a Keith Shoup who married one of the Bruner descendants. Boy, this gets complicated. Anyway, that is all I have on the Shoups of Mercer County. Jane
