Hello John, I noticed your request to Pat and thought I might be able to help a little. A few weeks ago I spent a couple days in the Mercer Co. courthouse doing some research on some ancestors and collecting some info for some cousins. I recalled some things I collected that had the Inbody (sometimes spelled Imbody) on the documents. One was a marriage license (No. 1069) where it reflected Peter Hedrich married Mary Imbody on 12 Jul 1888 in Sharpsville, Mercer Co., PA. The affidavit they filed for a marriage license was also dated 12 Jul 1888. The affidavit shows his date of birth was 1 Jan 1866 and hers was 6 Apr 1870. It also showed her father's name was Ruben Imbody and her mother's first name was Mary. Then, according to License No. 35170, their son, Arthur LeRoy Hedrick married Anna Mary Hassel on 27 Sep 1935 in Sharon, Mercer Co., PA. They signed the affidavit for their license on 18 Sep 1935. I will also check the 1880 Census and see what Inbody's I can find on there. Oak Hill Cemetery is an active cemetery located on the southern side of the town of Stoneboro, which is on the eastern side of Mercer Co, PA. I have visited it because I have numerous relatives buried there. There is a cemetery name Oak Hill cemetery, in Sandy Lake Township in Mercer County according to the roots web site.
If you believe the OAK Hill cemetery is in Mercer Co, Call an undertaker. If it is an active cemetery, they will know the location. Pat: I am John J. Inbody, Goshen,IN> might you have available information on a Lyle Inbody in the 1800's listed in Butler co. Pa. Also a Molly Inbody, believed to be a D/0- Lyle and Family. I called up www.google.com and put in "Oak Hill, PA + township". The result was a number of Oak Hill Cemetaries in several PA counties and townships. While this probably doesn't help, it at least raises the question of which Oak Hill Cemetary is meant, and how many there are. Pat
The Lawrence County Courthouse should have the Letter of Intent filed with the Naturalization Paper. It could be if you did not specifically request both they would just send you the one? I live in Butler County and the ones I've looked up have had all the papers together. A person could file their Intent papers in any county in PA and be naturalized in a different county. In that case, Lawrence County would not have the Intent Papers. Also the father was the only one naturalized in the family in that time period. I don't know the exact date when that practice changed though. As for a death record not being recorded in 1902, unfortunately that was not an uncommon happening. People were supposed to report these things to the courthouse, but did not always do it. There is also the possibility that your ancestor lived near a county line and someone reported it, in error, at the adjoining county's courthouse? Pat www.rootsweb.com/~pabutle2

Hi Fran, If you find the above info please let me know your source. My experience with the records in New Castle hasn't produced much of anything re I&N info. Many of their records were lost in fires or floods and what was left wasn't taken care of very well. . I've been looking for my g.grf's I&N for years and haven't been able to find it, not even his death certificate of 1902 at the court house. However, the New Castle Library is very helpful and has a very good genealogy dept. Good luck! Don O'Leary (Born & raised in New Castle)
There is a Oak Hill Cemetary in the Sandy Lake/Stoneboro area. I'm not sure if it is Sandy Lake Township or if it is in one of those two boros. I'm sure someone else will add onto this, but, it will give you somewhere to start >From: [email protected] >Reply-To: [email protected] >To: [email protected] >Subject: [PAMERCER] where is >Date: Sun, 13 Apr 2003 15:32:05 EDT > >Hello, Will someone "PLEASE" tell me what Township in Mercer County---is >Oak Hill. Hello, Will someone "PLEASE" tell me what Township in Mercer County---is Oak Hill. I have an obit and it states she was born in Oak Hill, Mercer, Pa????? Thanks !!--Paula
Hello. I have the Naturalization paper of my Great grandfather, Heinrich Hellmann that was issued at the courthouse in New Castle PA.in 1900. I recently found more information on the 1930 census regarding his immigration to the US. Also that there were papers filed to apply for naturalization called "petition for naturalization or a "declaration of intention" which listed much information on the individual's family and place of birth. Does anyone know anything regarding the papers of this sort that may still be found in New Castle? It is possible that other members of the extended family also applied for citizenship there. I learned this from a book on Genealogy called "My SIxteen" that tells how one man found his family through various kinds of documents. Thanks for your help. Fran Keller.
Can anyone help? Samuel Byers born 1762 married Elizabeth Ramsey. William Byers born 1767 married Jane Kincaid. Has anyone ever connected Samuel & William Byers. Brothers maybe? William was the first Sheriff of Mercer County. Any help appreciated. Bob McKeon

Kimber sorry I did not see any MORRIS Family in Findley 1900. Carol
I am searching for the following family in the 1900 census. Findley, Mercer Cty, PA, 1900: G A MORRIS (this is how it was listed in the 1880 census, initials only ) Mary A MORRIS Anna MORRIS I am hoping this might finally, after 4 years of searching, be my great grandfather's family. Thank you for the help, Kimber

I am still looking for information on Levi Jennings and Susan Buchanan Jennings. I am looking for birth dates and military information on Levi Jennings father, John Jennings married to Mary Jennings. I would also like to receive the same information on Levi's grandfather. Thanks for any help or suggestions. Sallie Christian [email protected]
