    3. Terry, Thanks so much for the information on the Clifford/Reed family, I had somne but not nearly as much as you sent me, particularly the census readings. I also have information on a John Clifford in Erie, PA, taken from the City Directories 1853-1865. I had not been able to tie him in but will check on this again. Possibly he was a brother of Margaret's husband since her married name was Clifford and her maiden name was Evans. I also have a death certificate for Katherine Pearl Torrance who died 23 Oct 1942 at age 66y11m19d. It lists her born in Erie; parents Simon Reed born in Renova, PA?, and mother Lydia Starks b Madison, Ohio. On all census I have seen the Reed children were listed as being born in NY but the grgrandchildren in the Braniff/Reed family all say it should be PA. Census readings seem to bear out the NY births. Husband of Katherine is Claude Torrance and daughter, Grace T. Sell, was informant and Katherine lived at 631 E. 12th St. All of your information clears this death certificate up for me. Thanks again for your help. Peggy McAndrew

    1. [PAMERCER] Lightners
    2. KIM MACKLIN
    3. Hi, I saw in another post the surname Lightner. I have some in my files. I will list some general information and if anyone needs more I will be happy to send it. KIM First Generation 1. James Lawrence LIGHTNER1 was born on 27 Feb 1825. BIOGRAPHY: Mr. Lawrence Lightner came from a strong stern ancestry andwhat they believe to be right would stand unflinchingly by it. This wasfully imbedded in his nature. His father, Judge John Lightner, filledthe associate Judgeship for one term in Mercer Co. Pa. He was a strongtemperance man and when on the bench fought his battles so strenuouslyand almost single handed, that when he had finished his term ofjudgeship, his associates, when on the bench, presented him with a finecane, ebony shaft and gold head with appropriate inscriptions on it forhis fidelity in the cause. It was the wish of the Judge that his caneshould be given to each of the oldest sons, who were worthy of it, ineach succeeding generation, following his son James Lightner wascustodian of it first and his son ward is custodian at present. Amanda Jane STEWART1 (daughter of Thomas STEWART and Ester PORTER) was born on 31 Jul 1828 in Hubbard, OH. (maybe Mt. Jackson, P A). She died in 1914. James Lawrence LIGHTNER and Amanda Jane STEWART had the following children: +2 i. Eva Ellen (Ella) LIGHTNER (born on 8 Apr 1853). +3 ii. Gabrielle (Gay) LIGHTNER (born on 9 Mar 1870). +4 iii. Seldon Howard LIGHTNER (born on 20 Apr 1851). +5 iv. James Edwin LIGHTNER (born on 20 Sep 1856). I have more information of the children also.
