Does anyone know if the Mercer Brown's are related to an Elizabeth Brown b. 23 AUG 1806 m. Thomas Fisher Feb 22 1838 as his second wife. Couple moved to Illinois shortly after. Children: Joseph, Mathias, Thomas, Abel and Josiah. She died 19 Jun 1900 in Blandinsville, McDonough Co., IL. The Fisher's moved from Westmoreland to Mercer Co. ca. 1802 founding present day Eastbrook, Lawrence Co., PA. Have no info on Elizabeth's family or origin. Birth and death dates from her death certificate.
Hi Phyllis, My name is Kirstin Armstrong, I live in VA, and am Wayne Lightner's second cousin through the Lightners. I have a family tree with some of the Lightner info. From digging around, I've learned that Samuel Lightner was married twice and had something like 14 children. (If you want more on this I'll have to dig around in my files to find the precise details.) Cynthia was his 2nd marriage and from my estimates was about half his age when they married. It also shows your Della marrying a "Call McQuilliams," which I suppose is either a typo or bad spelling. According to my records, Cynthia's father was John Zeigler--I don't have any additional info. on him, although he married Eliza Rose, daughter of Jacob Rose and Rebecca Clark Rose. Jacob's father is one Andrew Rose b. Phila. (1754-1815) who allegedly helped serve the Revolutionaries in some way and is listed in the DAR records. I hope all this helps! Richard Brown was a brother of Andrew; both were born in Eastern PA and came to Mercer County about 1800.
them to you? I have got some very old Logan photos for the Mercer County site. Thanks. Gobnait Ní Leocháin Genealogy: Confusing the dead & irritating the living.
The Brown I am looking for is Peter Brown's father. Peter is in the 1830 census of Mercer Co. and can be found in every census record up to his death in 1883 where he died in West Salem Twp. and was said according to his obit where he lived for the past 40 years. He was born in 1802 in Pa and married to Catherine/Kate Burns, daughter of Michael and Mary Burns. Peter and Catherine's children were 1 unknown male, 1 unknown female who may have died young, John, Samuel, James M., and my gg grandfather Walker Brown. According to the 1880 census Peter's father was born in Ireland and his mother New Jersey. There are 3 Brown's in the 1820 West Salem Twp. census named Richard, Thomas and Solomon. There is also a Robert in Salem Twp. and many other Brown's from other townships. I have viewed the will of Thomas and Peter is not mentioned as one of his children, although this does not rule him out completely. Does anyone know of a Brown from this area that was born Ireland with wife born New Jersey? This is my oldest research and have been looking for over 5 years now. Pam
Thanks Evelyn. Maybe by process of elmination I will figure it out. Too many Brown's! Hi, I just wrote to Helen B. about my Samuel Lightner m. to Cynthia Zeigler. Then Wayne Lightner mentions Baker (1886-) Henry (1856-). Ethel Lightner wrote to my mother-inlaw and said that Henry married Nancy Baker and one of their four children was named Baker. Henry's parents were Cynthia and Samuel Lightner. I do not know when Sam died or where. Cynthia and my Della have gravestones near each other in North Liberty Cemetery. Can we talk more? Phyllis Mock McWilliams
