    3. Search Pennsylvania genealogy on groups.io. You'll get a lot a more hits. Also I set up PennsylvaniaGenLists to be a table of contents for groups.io. 3. I just looked at https://groups.io to see what Genealogy-related groups may exist, and discovered if any do they would be hard to find - unless one knows the exact names of the new groups being setup. Too bad all genealogy-family history related groups didn't begin with "FH" and then the individual group names (state, city, country).  Or is that a way to group all the related new "lists" so that they can be found easily? 3. Hi everyone! By now I’m sure everyone has heard the sad news Rootsweb Mailing Lists will be disabled March 2, 2020. All lists will be archived for future researchers. Today I wanted to extend an Invitation to join our nearly 800 members strong Facebook group Pennsylvania Dutch Life. Debra Orner and I decided to welcome all of the list users to come over and join us! We discuss a little bit of everything. PA Dutch culture and heritage, area history, announcements of local events, and genealogical topics. 3. *Kindly remove John E Barnes from all further communications.* Dear Mrs Barnes, I am a recent subscriber to this list, so I never communicated with your late husband. But luckily there are ways to UNSUBSCRIBE from most Rootsweb mailing lists, and instructions are usually in the header of Digest messages like this one but not in non-Digest messages.  (When account was first opened, the instructions for close accounts are usually sent - and possibly were saved.)  Below is the instructions for unsubscribing from this PAMERCER account.  Your should be able to unsubscribe from other Rootsweb mailing lists too.  Of course maybe the list owner already did it for you by now.) "To unsubscribe via email send a message with subject unsubscribe and body unsubscribe to pamercer-request@rootsweb.com" I also read some articles on-line that said that most people appoint an executor for disposing of physical assets (property/cash/insurance/investments) but don't make arrangements to appoint "an internet executor" to close their internet accounts upon death - which requires knowing the login and password. (Some people don't write down their account logins and passwords - I do keep a list on my PC.) (Closing Facebook accounts and some other social media accounts may require a Death Certificate.  Most don't take anyone's word without proof - otherwise imposters close anyone's social media accounts.)  Most email accounts can also easily be Closed and contents Deleted if you don't want to keep any past Family History files.)  Ralph from Chicago - in DIGEST mode (US and Chicago Research primarily) On Friday, June 21, 2019, 4:17:49 PM CDT, John Barnes <kf4oyt@carolina.rr.com> wrote: * * *Kindly remove John E Barnes from all further communications.* ** *John died in Nov. 2018* ** *Joan Barnes, his wife* On 6/13/2019 4:03 AM, pamercer-request@rootsweb.com wrote: > Send PAMERCER mailing list submissions to pamercer@rootsweb.com > > To subscribe via email send a message with subject subscribe and body > subscribe to pamercer-request@rootsweb.com > > To unsubscribe via email send a message with subject unsubscribe and > body unsubscribe to pamercer-request@rootsweb.com > > You can reach the person managing the list at > pamercer-owner@rootsweb.com > > When replying, please edit your Subject line so it is more specific > than "Re: Contents of PAMERCER digest..." > > Today's Topics: > >    1. 3. Hi Dave As a county co-ordinator and list server owner I don't see any suicide here. I have many people that have donated records to the Genweb page and I am always happy to add them. I have had countless people write and thank me and others for adding them and allowing these records to be accessable to those out of the areas. Many people have found ancestors and links to other family members through records. As far as duplication information, its just part of life and don't think there is any way you are going to get a control on it. What ever one person has access or found another can do the same. 3. Greetings All, I’ve found my GG Grandfather and Grandmother in and around Sharon during their later years. I’ve not been able to find when they came to the US, when they were married, and specifically where they came from in Ireland. They were: Thomas O’Day b. circa 1840 d. 19 Jun 1885 (shot and killed by his son John) Margaret Davis b Mar 1834, d 22 Apr 1903 Church of Sacred Heart in Sharon had a few records for family, including the reference to County Clare. Several family members buried at St Mary’s Cemetery.. First record of them I’ve found is them together in 1860 in Sweden, Monroe, New York. In Buffalo, Erie, New York in 1864 1870 - Sharon 1873 + 1874 Wheatland PA 1875, Mercer County 1880 North Hickory 1884 Hickory Township 1885 Sharon Children: James b 1858 PA Michael b 1859 NY Anna b 1861 NY John b 1864 Buffalo, NY William Henry b 1870 Epsyville, PA Thomas Henry b 1874 Sharon, PA Edward b 1874 Wheatland, PA Margaret b 1876 Sharon, PA There is a connection to Pittsburgh where my G Grandmother Anna married Julius Kelly (b Buffalo, NY) n 1882. I find it a bit surprising that she was in Pittsburgh, presumably on her own, and single, at the age of 21. And I have a photo of a Father Mollinger from Pittsburgh and have never figured out how he was connected. Also, Thomas spent time at a workhouse in the area and I would like to understand that a bit more. Any thoughts or suggestions appreciated.
