Looked at the old McK Daily news coverage of the plane that went down in the Mon. I was of the impression that it went down near Dravosburg and now I know why. There were 2 plane crashes in the Mon ,13 months apart. The frst took place Dec 22,1954. It was a charter carrying soldiers home for Xmas. It crashed in the Mon near Glassport.10 survived ,18 died. All survivied the crash but the deaths occured when the plane sank and the vitims were forced into the water. The 2nd crash was the B-52 ,on Jan 31, 1956 .In the next days paper it describes how the plane just missed hitting the Homestead Highevel Bridge and crashed into the Mon near the Glenwood Bridge near Hays. It was out of fuel. Four Airmen were saved , 2 were lost. Motorist and police went to the rescue -among the rescuers were Christy & Dave Malamisuro,Charles Colosi, Aldo Gaburr & Dom Devine. As with the first crash, those lost were swept away by the current and not found. according to this days account. Donna
Just a minor comment, it was a B-25. The B-52 hadn't been produced yet. ----- Original Message ----- From: <mmfred@pgh.net> To: <PAMCKEESPORT-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, June 07, 2001 4:23 PM Subject: [PAMCKEESPORT] plane crash > Looked at the old McK Daily news coverage of the plane that went > down in the Mon.
