The Hubbard Mine - We got all our coal from the Hubbard Mine - on I believe the famous Pittsburgh Coal Seam. My Great-Grandfather whose obituary is on George's Web Site - shipped coal from the Hubbard in the 1830's and 1840's. I believe its other outlet that they worked was located where the White Oak Athletic Field is now located. I remember the Air Pump and mine shaft still standing well into the 1960's. Unfortunately I have no pictures of the Hubbard Mine - for those who never saw it - the Mercury Dealership sits on the site across from K-Mart on the Walnut St. extension. A regular coal delivery man for the Hubbard was Walker Taylor of White Oak. Marc M. G. Stauffer
