In the early 1900's, there was a semi-pro team that played on a field in Christy Park/the Eleventh Ward. It was located somewhere around 26th Street on the river side of the railroad tracks and south of old Fort Pitt Steel Casting, where their scrap yard was during the war. My grandfather, Owen Kyle Parmiter, was a regular member of the team. They supported themselves by passing the hat. I don't know the name of the team, but I'm sure it received good coverage in the Daily News. Jim Parmiter
